Exclamation points instead of photos? Jade W. 9/21/12 2:55 PM
Edit: Thanks for your examples -- all appear to be fixed. Let me know if you see any pages that still show the exclamation points.

Seeing a bunch of reports that exclamation points are appearing on local Google+ pages instead of photos. Team's looking into it. You can post your examples here, may help us track it down.

I'll come back when I've got an update.

Thanks,
Jade

Hello Jade,

We had a similar problem with another Google + Local page but that got resolved when I replaced the earlier profile picture with another image (that was not a human face!).

Thanks for starting this exclusive thread addressing this unique issue.

Vijay

Hello Jade,

The biggest problem is that the exclamation point replaces the main image (that on the right) in my Google local page.

Thanks for your help.

Sergio

Jade,

My photos were affected and my banner was gone too, so I made a new banner:

Yep looks like the examples above are all fixed now!

Thanks Google and thanks Jade.

This may not be related, however I am getting a black image with a dash. https://plus.google.com/104108324886395316935/photos?hl=en

This has been appearing for about two months
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? treebles 9/24/12 11:16 AM
a11c,
that image returns a Forbidden status, could you please check that the album containing the image, or the permissions on the image itself, are set to public.
Thanks
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? IndianapolisVet 9/24/12 12:30 PM
No exclamation points since I put up a new banner, but I'm still getting the "Not what you expected? Some of your edits weren't accepted." message, which may be related to the same issue, or maybe not - I'm certainly no expert!

I had a Google Approved photography company do a virtual tour of my business a few weeks ago, and still photos uploaded via mapmaker, though I see none of their photos on either system. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? treebles 9/24/12 1:35 PM
IndianapolisVet,
Your issue is unrelated to this bug, your pictures were rejected in the Google+ moderation process.

I am trying to find out if there is an appeal process.

Map Maker links to pictures, was denied also, were never used to populate the Local listing, I do not know if that has changed.
Map Maker photos policies indicates that pictures containing people posing are not acceptable and likely the reason why it was rejected.

Unpinning this because this issue appears to be fixed.
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? a11c 10/1/12 9:09 AM
@treebles

This issue is on the old Google Places, albums or permissions are not available. I have reported the images many times too but yet it still is present.
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? treebles 10/1/12 11:50 AM
a11c,
Just to make sure I understand, you uploaded the missing picture from your Places Dashboard?
Did it ever show in your Local listing? Or did always gave that error?
Thank you
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? a11c 10/2/12 9:27 AM
treebles,
I obtained this account from a client of mine so I'm assuming at one point the image may have been in the places listing dashboard. Right now all the images in the places dashboard are showing on the listing (and even extra images that are not present in the dashboard) so i'm not sure where the missing picture is coming from.
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? treebles 10/2/12 10:04 AM
a11c,
If it is not in the Places Dashboard then it is coming from some other person's online album that is not set for public access, hence the forbidden status. You cannot assume that it was in the Places Dashboard at some point.
If you do not have any idea where it is coming from I would suggest that you report the missing picture to Google Places support, if you have control of the Places listing, using this online form.

Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? a11c 10/3/12 7:51 AM
The very first thing I did after noting the image was not in the dashboard was reported a problem with the image to places support. no action has been taken which is why im discussing the issue here.  I guess i'll wait it out

thanks,

Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? treebles 10/3/12 11:52 AM
Alex,
did they give you any reasons?
Did you use the form I provided?
If you use the Edit business details link in the Google+ Local page the request, most likely, is going to be ignored.
The reason I am asking is because recently another user got the issue with incorrect photos resolved in a matter of a couple of days when he used the report form for business owners.
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? a11c 10/4/12 12:32 PM
Thanks treebles,

1. Just a general thanks for contacting support canned response
2. I used the form/troubleshooter in july or august and the edit business details as a last resort in early september.

I really appreciate your help; this is a very minor issue that will probably be resolved when all my other unresolvable issues on Places are fixed (4-100 weeks  :) )
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? treebles 10/4/12 1:09 PM
Alex,
I will bring the picture in question to the attention of Google employees, there are no guarantees that they will do anything about it but at least I want them to be aware of it.
As far as I can tell your issue is unrelated to the topic of this thread, but since I have no insider information I cannot be 100% sure, you may have stumbled into yet another bug.
Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? Jade W. 10/4/12 2:58 PM
Thanks, treebles!

@a11c, that was an irrelevant photo that we took down. I am trying to make the black image go away -- check back in a bit.

Hi Jade,

Could you assist me with removing the exclamation mark on my listing as well https://plus.google.com/107374448752243051565/about?gl=GB&hl=en-GB
Since this problems started our reviews have disappeared as well.

Do you have a solution for me?

Thanks

Re: Exclamation points instead of photos? John Gayed 9/17/13 7:40 PM
Hello,

Im having the same trouble with my Google Places for Business listing as well. Overall actually the whole Places vs Google+ Local is really confusing and just a big mess. Here is my Google+ Local page even though I tried to delete it to force the Google Places for Business information to go through.

https://plus.google.com/103544103542135624277/about?gl=jp&hl=ja

keyword search from google.com or google.co.jp is 英会話のエルエー

any help would be appreciated!

Here is another example of the exclamation mark rather than photos.
