|Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jade W.||6/7/12 10:29 AM|
Edit: Thanks! We've got enough volunteers for now. Sign up here if you want to be notified by email when this is widely available.
We're taking volunteers to be considered for early upgrade to their local Google+ pages. You can take a peek at a few early upgrade examples on the Google and Your Business blog -- basically, they've got a separate tab for social posts the business owner makes and the ability for customers or users to Follow the page.
Please note that this is all still a test feature, so it's not for the faint of heart! Ready? Sign up on this form. Edit: Just to be very clear, the URL that you enter in this form is for the Google+ Page you created in the Local/business category in Google+.
P.S. There's another link circulating around that's just got an email input. That's a sign up for an email when the upgrade is ready for everyone.

This is great for businesses that already have a Google+ Page. If you own a business that DOES NOT have a Google+ page but ONLY the Google+ Local page - do you suggest we now go out and create the Google+ Page?
Or will we in the coming days/weeks also get those social features added to our Google+ Local Page?
It seems to me that it would be advantageous for us to go out and create a Google+ page so we too can be consider for the early upgrade.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jaxcoffee||6/7/12 1:00 PM|
I would be happy to be part of this testing Jade. But my business is not a storefront business. Any place for me to be able to help?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jade W.||6/7/12 1:15 PM|
Yeah, you can go ahead and create a Google+ Page (make sure it's in the Local/Business category!) if you want to be early upgraded.
Non-storefront businesses, stay tuned!
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jaxcoffee||6/7/12 6:02 PM|
I do actually have some of my clients come to my home office for my business, which is why I still list my address on my Places page and my Google+ Page.
Would that make me eligible?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jade W.||6/7/12 6:25 PM|
Oh, ok! Yeah, if clients come to your address, and your address is shown on the listing, that's fine. You're eligible. :)
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jaxcoffee||6/7/12 6:28 PM|
Cool! Signing up!
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||nkotak007||6/8/12 4:52 AM|
Hi Jade - is this upgrade also available for UK listings?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Thomas Harvey||6/8/12 2:11 PM|
Thanks for offering the opportunity for an early upgrade. I've submitted our pages (Car Dealerships) for inclusion in the early upgrade. All of the pages have Google place accounts and actively updated Google + business pages.
Let me know if there is anything else we can do to help. We look forward to the opportunity to explore this new venture with Google.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Seitenmeister||6/8/12 9:33 PM|
I would like to ask something in general about this topic. Sorry the Google+ Local: Learn more here thread is to confusing.
Businesses with a formerly Place-page with simply no need to any kind of social activity, will these Google+local pages stay the way they are at the moment?
Mean "simple" Google+ local results (formerly known as Places).
TIA regards Seitenmeister
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||treebles||6/8/12 10:05 PM|
No, they will all be "upgraded" to the full Google+ experience with all Google+ social features.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Seitenmeister||6/8/12 10:13 PM|
One time more I've learned from you. tnx Seitenmeister
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||tree safe||6/9/12 8:24 AM|
Hi, I would be happy to take part Tree Safe, thank you
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Linda Buquet ~||6/9/12 3:54 PM|
tree safe, currently the option is only for storefront businesses, service area businesses that go out to customers are not eligible. Even if they were, you could not apply by posting in this thread. You would need to fill out the form Jade links to in the 1st post.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||duanermb||6/10/12 10:29 AM|
Might as well give the early upgrade a try. Our place page has completely disappeared anyway, along with all of our info and reviews. That un-editable, information-less listing appeared a few days ago.
So maybe this will help bring it back!
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Flash (RER)||6/10/12 10:41 AM|
@duanermb - I think you'll need to get your Places page working first, otherwise there is nothing to upgrade. You should start a new thread and make sure it has all the information requested so people can help you out.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||minhsnguyen||6/14/12 8:35 AM|
How will this affect businesses with many storefronts such as Best Buy? Will there be an overall encompassing dashboard or will businesses simply have to manage each location?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||treebles||6/14/12 9:40 AM|
Businesses with multiple locations, like Best Buy, are already managing their multiple locations from the Places Dashboard using the Bulk Upload feature for Google Places.
Unless Google changes the management interface of local listings, they will continue to do so on their Places dashboard.

Sounds like a good idea!
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jaxcoffee||6/15/12 6:42 AM|
Seem that those who do not have a store front business, and do not meet clients at their location are not eligible for the early merge testing. Fortunately, I do meet clients at my office which is why I still show my address on my listing. So it appears you may need to just wait until the merge actually happens to see how it effects your business type.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Pankaj Raghav||6/19/12 5:16 AM|
I do have my clients Google+ Local Page with storefront but the businesses do not have Google+ page.
I want to confirm do I should go for setting up the Google+ page for my client or the update will get the Google+ Local Page automatically with all the social features as Google is looking to add with update.
Kindly help me out with this.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Linda Buquet ~||6/19/12 12:18 PM|
If you DON'T have a Google+ page I would just wait and G will upgrade your local page. I believe that will be cleanest/easiest and things are moving along so won't be long.
The early upgrade is for techy folks that can't wait and don't mind being beta testers and dealing with possible transitional bugs. I wouldn't go there unless that's you.

I'm one of the volunteers for local upgrading to Google + pages.
I made my request using the appropriate you indicated, on 12/06/2012;
this is the address of my local google + https://plus.google.com/100823705612661904056
and this the address of my business google + https://plus.google.com/109266855826911664672
my question is as follows:
Could I know what step is the integration of the two pages? Can I see it some way?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||UKSBD||6/24/12 5:33 PM|
When I first created my Google+ Page https://plus.google.com/103563672979902985266/ back in November I don't think I created it as a Local/business.
Can this be changed?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Thomas Harvey||6/25/12 2:15 PM|
How will we know if we were selected for early upgrade?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||EJdds||6/26/12 5:03 AM|
Hi Jade, I hope you can help me. I'm a dentist outside of Chicago and confused how to move my Google Places content into Google+ Local. I have two Gmail accounts and unfortunately one (the older of the two) is linked to my Google Places and the other is linked to my G+ account. How can I move the Places info into my Local without data/reviews/influence loss? Thank you for your help. I also messaged you on G+. Thank you!
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||UKSBD||6/26/12 6:03 AM|
I think that is the elephant in the room and why Google can't simply merge the 2 together.
I suspect millions of people are in the same situation and if Google do try to merge accounts and get things wrong the privacy issues will be the ammunition a lot of Google critics are waiting for.
Be interesting to hear how they will solve the problem or even just have an inkling of what they may do.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Linda Buquet ~||6/26/12 11:50 AM|
@EJdds, I specialize in Dentistry and can help if you post a new thread. Your Q is a little specific to your situation and we need some details. Right now you are just buried in a thread that is just generally about the update.
But short answer, you don't need to MOVE Places info into Local. It's already been done for you. As far as the next level of integration, that has not happened yet and when it does G will provide instructions for various scenarios.
@UKSBD, yes many are in the same situation. Even if your Place page/G+Local page and your G+ page are in different accounts you will be able to merge them.
There will be a couple different merge options that fit all the different scenarios, so don't worry. If both are in same account it will be fairly easy and automatic.
But even if in diff accounts can be done. There will just be an extra step or so to prove and verify that the accounts are for the same business and should rightfully be merged.
Obviously for the business owner's protection and to eliminate possible problems with the wrong pages being automatically merged.

@Linda, Thank you for getting back to me. I'd love
your assistance. I created a thread this morning at 7;09am (CST)

new/different location. In that thread are additional details about
myself but also put them here. Thank you for your attention and help!

|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Carl49||6/27/12 9:28 AM|
A couple of months ago, 90% of my client reviews for Google Places suddenly disappeared. A few weeks later, they reappeared.
Now, in the past week or two, a half dozen reviews (some from over one year ago) disappeared.
What can I do to make sure than these reviews are restored, and that this does not keep happening?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Ygong||7/10/12 11:34 AM|
My google place account shows my list is active. But, I don't see my business on the local map at all. Can anyone help me?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Seitenmeister||7/14/12 10:04 PM|
sure. Therefor you check the Link See your listing on Google and after that you check the other pinned Diskussions if there is a hint for you.
If that's not the case you must open a new Thread by klicking the big red button and provide all the asked Information.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||2chicks||7/16/12 12:48 PM|
Are these upgraded pages going to be indexed and searchable outside the G+ network?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||QueenOf1211||7/19/12 12:22 PM|
How do you "make sure it's in the Local/Business category"? Is there a way that I can check to see what category my page is in?
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||Jaxcoffee||7/19/12 1:20 PM|
I don't know about the other categories, but when the page is a Local Business, there is a map present directly under the profile photo.
|Re: Upgrade your Google+ Local page early||QueenOf1211||7/19/12 2:31 PM|
Right, that is for the Google+ Local, what I was referring to was a post from Jade at the top of this thread where someone asked if they should create a Google+ Page if they already had a Google+ Local page, and her answer was:
"Yeah, you can go ahead and create a Google+ Page (make sure it's in the Local/Business category!) if you want to be early upgraded."
So, my question is in reference to that statement. If you're creating a Google+ Page, how do you make sure it's in the Local/Business category, or if you've already created a Google+ Page, how do you check to see if it's in the Local/Business category?
