High Resolution Contact Pictures in "Google Apps" (sync with Android) m.fabach 1/3/13 3:57 AM

Problem Description
According to many posts, the low-res Gmail contact picture sync between Google Contacts and Android etc. has been fixed in October 2012 for "regular" Google Accounts (@gmail.com).
I have tested it, and it works like a charm. The contact images, that i set through the web-interface (mail.google.com) on my regular @gmail.com Account, are shown on my Nexus 4 Android 4.2.1 device with the full resolution and tack sharp.

However, the bad news is, this is not true for my primary Google Apps Account. The contact pictures are still synchronized with 96x96px.
Same procedure, i set the contact images throug the web-interface (mail.google.com) on my @mydomain.com Google Apps account. The Google Apps Account is mapped on my Nexus 4 and contact sync is turned on. However, the contact images are only low-res (96x96) and very pixelated because the image is being streched.

So, please Google - Fix this for Google Apps Customers too.

I've noticed the same problem. I was so happy to learn that Google Contact sync can do high res photos ... but then whenever I tried it didn't work. Now I know why! Google Apps needs high res photo sync!

I had to create a separate gmail account just for syncing contacts in high res.

But that is very uncomfortable. You need to organize all contacts twice, otherwise you won't have the address book if you want to write mails via the web app :(

This seems ridiculous. After all this time Google still can't offer full contact syncing.

I have to agree - this seems like a ridiculous restriction to impose on Google Apps users. I wonder if this is only a restriction on free Google Apps accounts or if it also pertains to premium accounts?

i can confirm that this issue exists also for premium Google Apps accounts.

I think it is almost certain that there will be changes to Google+ announced at I/O in 3 weeks from now. Those changes could be a tighter integration between your GMail/Google Apps account and the G+ account - maybe even a merge of the two.

I don't think there will be any changes regarding this issue until then, where we can only hope that whatever Google is cooking it will somehow remedy this problem once and for all and not treat (paying) Google Apps customers as second grade citizens.
