Harassment/advertisement spam djp1374243123 7/19/12 10:04 AM I and many of my friends have been having issues with youtube spamming us with advertisements, we have went to our library to see if it was just our computers and we have noticed that on most videos no matter what computer we get spammed by the same
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam fishman0101 7/23/12 3:04 PM I'm having this same problem on Firefox. The CompUSA ad seems to hijack clicks on any of YouTube's controls and force a new tab opening. It's incredibly annoying. Actions that open a new tab: Clicking anywhere on the video itself Clicking anywhere on
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam beatdownboogie 7/31/12 6:23 AM Yeah, the CompUSA/Tiger direct ad completely disables the functionality of the Youtube player.  It actually goes further than that my restarting the video at the beginning with any attempt to use the video player.  It is so frustrating that I have de
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam jal316 8/3/12 8:23 AM I'm experiencing this too. I use Chrome but I tried on Firefox and IE with the same result. I'm all for ads on YouTube because that's how they and content producers make money but don't hijack my video. It gets to a point where I reload the video sev
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Chazbraz 8/20/12 9:20 PM I've been getting the same issue. I'm getting tired of trying to watch videos on youtube with this shit.
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam RyanGatts 8/23/12 8:25 AM Ditto here. Thanks for the detailed write up on this. I hope it gets fixed sooner rather than later.
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam XPWiFi 8/25/12 9:10 AM I can at least pause the video when I want to by clicking on the video and then pressing the spacebar when I want to pause it.
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam illmatic 8/26/12 2:41 PM I'm having the exact same problem. Is youtube aware that Compusa is doing this, as it seems like a violation of their terms of service. If youtube actually allows this kind of pervasive harassment from their advertisers then that is very sad indeed.
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam CompUSA 8/27/12 12:34 PM We are looking into this issue with Google to determine why this is happening. The ad is a regular static image so there is nothing built into the ad. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam ElmoMad 9/6/12 10:01 AM Well look harder. It has been 9 days. I repair and custom build computers on the side. Your add is so irritating that I do not think I can refer customers to your store.
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Charybdisjim 9/11/12 6:54 AM It's still happening and has been for weeks.  Every time it does I report the issue to Youtube support and request they ban you as an advertiser for clickjacking.  Every time it happens I reaffirm my commitment NEVER to buy anything from your sleazy
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam cgil 9/11/12 2:36 PM Agreed - this has had a MAJOR negative impact on how I and other I know view CompUSA.  Based on the time it's taken to address the "problem", seems like it's deliberate.  Will be making a concerted effort to not buy there.
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam andrewober 9/11/12 5:24 PM Seriously annoyed as well.  We don't have a CompUSA around, but I'll never buy from there again, after seeing their ad hijack youtube as often as it does!!
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Dollarbill2208 9/18/12 1:32 PM @CompUSA what do you have to say now?  It has been 3 weeks since you replied.  I don't even know what the CompUSA even is, (I would assume some type of computer store), but I am also irritated to the point that I don't want to find out.  When I use y
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Charybdisjim 9/18/12 2:18 PM CompUSA's parent company is Systemax which also directly controls TigerDirect website and stores and Circuit City website as well.  They're all sub-brands for the same company so be sure to vent your frustration at all the brands this company owns an
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam olov244 9/19/12 12:13 PM ok, i've had it with this stupid ad, someone needs to fix it, can't do anything, and it's even crashing video's. these companies will no be getting a dime from me forever, and when i boycott a company it's for life, and the list gets longer by the da
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam bramlet 9/19/12 12:22 PM It been happening for a while, so freaking annoying. You can't hit replay, you can't close the ad with the x, you can't skip to a different part of the video. Compusa is wasting money with all these false clicks, and they are frustrating everybody th
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Mallear 9/20/12 7:45 PM Confirm that it's still happening today; I sent an email to Compusa about it. I doubt I'll hear anything back from them, but I'm definitely going to be doing my computer shopping at NewEgg for the foreseeable future. REALLY tired of their ad bullcrap
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Charybdisjim 9/27/12 11:55 PM CompUSA is an incompetently run TigerDirect subsidiary and Google/Youtube makes money off the adds.  The first is too much of a mess to do anything about anything and the second has an incentive not to.  Only thing you can do is stop buying anything
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Beat Down Boogie 9/28/12 10:38 AM BS.  It's still happening and been happening for months.  You are paying a crapload of money to run these ads and Youtube sure has ad execs managing your important account.  It's not exactly rocket science.  You guys are hoping enough technologically
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam RyanGatts 10/1/12 10:00 AM This is insane. How is this still happening? has anyone tried complaining at CompUSA instead of Youtube?
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam SleepNeed 10/30/12 11:07 PM Still happening and across multiple people on multiple computers. CompUSA's ad completely highjacks the page and makes it impossible to click ANYWHERE on the page, even to pause or play the video unless I use the spacebar. CompUSA, withdraw your ads
Re: Harassment/advertisement spam Ron Hatton 12/18/12 6:00 AM Here here! The policy of allowing video advertisements is one that is (in my opinion) a necessary evil in this world. Those inside the video stream are one thing, so long as you have the ability to skip the ad. Those in the sidebar are the most annoy
