|Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||VX2100DV||3/23/12 6:24 PM|
This began after YT cleared out the inactive subscribers. Analytics shows the gains & the graph is not showing any losses. So If I get 2 new subs, the sub count on my channel page drops by 2. This has been going on for the past few weeks.

The Subscription bug has been frequently reported during the last weeks. In the following thread you will even find a YT statement though it might not be that satisfying:
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/19/12 12:16 PM|
The same happened to me. Before yt's housecleaning, I had 8,123 subs. After yt removed inactive channels, count went down to 7,899. As of 5.19.12, sub count 7,794 (it was 7,798 this morning). I can afford to lose subs a few hundred subs but it seems like yt could care less nor bothered to post an article about it.

Welcome to the club. It's been happening to me for a month now. I know that quite a few people are having the same problem and have had it since around March time. The problem is Youtube doesn't appear to care.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||BaltimoreAndOhioRR||5/19/12 5:46 PM|
Yes, I'm having the same problem. And it's not inactive accounts being deleted, active subscribers are disappearing!
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/19/12 6:13 PM|
You're right, active channels are disappearing. 7:30 this morning 5.19.2012, I started out at 7,794 and 13+ hours later it's 7,785, and the day ain't over yet.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/21/12 7:23 AM|
Just an FYI: Since yesterday 5.20.12 my sub count was 7,785 and in one day it dropped and I lost another 45 subs. That's the biggest chunk taken in a 24 hour period.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||brownsugarcandie2007||5/22/12 5:20 AM|
Damn! I thought it was just happening to me. It's mysterious how everytime I return to my account main channel page, I'm always down a few subs. I went from 2,030, to now 2,015, within just a week. I gain a few subs everyday, then I lose a lot more, the next. I mean yes, who doesn't lose a sub or 2, every month or so, cause they only subbed for one thing, or it wasn't what they were expecting. But losing about 5 to 6, almost EVERYDAY, is becoming suspect! But here's the REAL kicker, I have a 2nd channel, GAINING subs almost everyday, seriously? Like, WTF youtube?? I honestly don't know how this site can be SO popular, and their "help services" suck MAJOR asshole!! We cry & plea, and still no got damn answers! This is effin' BS! >:/
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||brownsugarcandie2007||5/22/12 5:23 AM|
YT needs to fix this shit, cause it's really blowing my everlasting nerves, man! -__-
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||shakensel||5/22/12 6:38 AM|
i got the same problem, had this morning 5499 subs and now 5300 so lost lots of subs, i even can't sub to other channels, it is getting crazy, i reported it as a bug many times but so far nothing did happen
my friend loses like 50 subs a day, this is no fun no more, if there was an other site the same like youtube, i would change site, sadly youtube won't fix our problems
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/22/12 7:51 AM|
On 5.20.12 my sub count was 7,785 and today 5.22.12 it's 7,665, that's 120 gone and it's only 10:30 in the morning so I have a whole day and night to go, then tomorrow and the next day and so on. I'd sure love to smash those incompetent asshole faces over at yt.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/22/12 7:58 AM|
Yep, seems like the bigger the channel the more subs disappear. I worked hard building up this channel and some other channels I have and it's the same story, subs disappearing every day. I wish Zippcast.com would have worked out. They have youtube's original channel design but no money to keep it going and not enuf donations. Plus most of the videos people uploaded were deleted including mine. I don't care much for Gozie.com and they didn't approve my last 2 video uploads so I don't go there anymore. F em! As for that DailyMotion, they had the nerve to put 2 ads on one of my videos, in the beginning and another in the middle. I was furious so I deleted my account.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/22/12 8:01 AM|
And btw, what does level 1, 2 and 3 mean next to our names?
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||DietHobby||5/22/12 11:02 AM|
You are not alone. This is happening to many, many people.
YT is still deleting inactive accounts. Evidently this will be an ongoing thing in the future to keep the numbers of old, unused accounts from stacking up again. If they have millions to get rid of, it could take a while before the process slows down. Many people have seen evidence that there is also a bug or a glitch in the process.
In YouTube's official position on ongoing subscriber removals of Inactive accounts. YT David Boyle says again: "None of the accounts we're removing from our system are active."
Since YT doesn't address or acknowledge the bug or glitch that appears to be removing ACTIVE subscribers, it doesn't seem likely that they are trying to fix it.
The most active link that's been going on for some time with lots of people talking about the problem and how subscriber losses are offsetting subscriber gains is …
Sharing and Connecting on YouTube
"We aren't just losing invalid or idle account SUBS - There's a glitch; I've proved it.
I also recently saw a pretty good video about this,
titled, "YouTube Sub Count Glitch"
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||BaltimoreAndOhioRR||5/22/12 1:50 PM|
Ambriel - The level #'s refer to how active you are on these forums. I'm not sure if there's a legend displayed somewhere, but as you post more, you move up levels.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Sextus70||5/22/12 6:00 PM|
This has been happening to me too since some days ago and it's becoming really annoying and frustrating. Before it started, I had 1189 suscribers, after 3 more or less days, I have only 1120 and it keeps going down.
It's good to see that it isn't because most of my suscribers suddenly hated me and decided to leave my channel XD, and that I'm not the only one who is suffering this glitch, which is well explained and understood. I only hope that they fix it because it's an offense and outrage for most people who worked hard to win those suscribers, even if they don't do more videos anymore.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||brownsugarcandie2007||5/22/12 6:28 PM|
Omg! Now I'm at 2,008. I just lost 22 effing subs, in a matter of DAYS. This can't be just any coincident, that ppl are just unbsubbing like this. It's happening everyday, BY the hour, or less!! I feel like all my hard work of getting my channel where it is today, is just slowly dying up, because the "It's" that work for youtube/google, are the most bunch of unhelpful fools, I've every came in contact with! I wish someone would have the balls, to just sue the pants of this company, cause this is some unethical sh**! We're CRYING for help, and answers, and we're NOT getting them!! WTF IS GOING ON?!?! >:/ ..Let us know something, damnit. -__- I'm getting inpatient.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/22/12 11:41 PM|
Thank you for answering my question. Just for my own FYI. My first post on 5/19/12, I was 7,794, and four days later 5/23/12, I'm 7,637, another 157 subs gone.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/22/12 11:45 PM|
In 4 days I lost 157 subs. It's going on 3 months, my patience is long gone. Now I feel like committing a felony.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||LensPassion||5/28/12 8:58 AM|
Happens the same to me Every month I loose more and more subs I was 2.900 and Now i am 1960 I have 100 new subscribers than never count in my channel neither I CANNOT BELIEVE ITS HAPPENS EVERY MONTH i lost more and more subs I am working hard in this channel for more than 3 years IS not FAIR ... I see i am not the only one and this problemn never fix every month go worst lost the time Youtube
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||5/29/12 12:47 AM|
Exactly, we worked hard building up our channels and designing them in beautiful colors. For every subscriber I and other users lose, google/youtube stocks will drop 1000 fold for each sub that disappears!
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||brownsugarcandie2007||5/29/12 5:34 PM|
Okay, I just went and read my "Closed account area", in the Analytic's, and according to it, just 18 accounts, were deleted. What a crock of SHIT! Doing calculations, I had 2,030 subs when this started to happen, and then when it stopped, I had lost 82 subs, while keeping tract of it, everyday. So, in this instance, if I lost only 18 dead accounts, why does it still equal out to 64?? YT MUST have deleted 64 ACTIVE ppl from my channel, meaning this purging mess, and the stuff we've been complaining about "Live subs getting deleted"..is infact TRUE! WTF?? >:O
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||BaltimoreAndOhioRR||5/29/12 7:54 PM|
I just checked mine for last week, and it says 33 closed accounts, 140 subs gained and 88 lost. Which sort of matches up with what I've been saying for the past few months - " it seems like for every 3 subs I get, I lose 2" !
I still say something is wrong. For the past few years, my subs always increased. Sometimes just 1 or 2 a day, other times 30-40 a day. But I could never come check my page, come back in an hour or two, and see 10 subs gone. This has happened a few times a day, several days. I've been getting more subs, which has offset the huge losses, so like I said, my count only seemed to creep up about 1/3 as fast as I gained subs. And Analytics says I only lost 33 closed accounts??
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||6/5/12 1:37 PM|
This post is for my own records. March 7, 2012 - 8,123 subs. May 19, 2012 - 7,899 subs. June 5, 2012, - 7,219 subs. (498 subs taken from me in one day alone). Further, youtube is blocking others from subscribing to my channel. How is this being done? When users subscribe to ANY channel that has my channel featured on their channel, my channel does not appear in "also subscribe to these channels." I've attached one exhibit, a screenshot I took from my buddy ZeroSixtyFive. I unsubbed his channel & then subbed back and saw my channel is missing & took a screenshot. It's the same with anyone who features my channel.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||LgacyX6||6/5/12 3:51 PM|
It's absurd. I have now since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against them. If anyone has problems with Google and YT, I think the best thing we should do is go to the BBB and file a complaint to YouTube and Google. YT is in need of change and it's up to us to make it happen. If not then I feel that YT will suffer the same fate as Google's failed video service.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||6/7/12 10:06 PM|
If you remember I would like to know if the BBB helped you. My original subscription (before the March 7, 2012 grey prison wall design), my subs were 8,123. My first post on here, May 19, 2012, subs were 7,899, and today Friday June 8, 2012, subs dropped to 7,205. Sub losses between 3/7/12 - 6/8/12 is 918. Further, I discovered they are NOT inactive channels like yt says because if they were yt would have deleted the 3 channels I have not signed into for 2 years that I forgot about. Tell the BBB that.
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||BaltimoreAndOhioRR||6/8/12 4:19 PM|
Ambriel, thats interesting! Proof that the YouTube robot that's supposed to be eliminating inactive accounts is grossly inaccurate. How it could be, I don't understand. There should be fairly concrete parameters as to what constitutes an inactive account, and the only options are to either delete the account or do nothing.
I'm still losing subs about as fast as I gain them, so something's still wrong. Of course, no one admits it.
Less users are complaining lately, too. Maybe most have just given up???
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||BaltimoreAndOhioRR||6/8/12 6:45 PM|
Analytics, last 30 days:
Subscribers gained - 411
Subscribers lost - 372
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||Ambriel||6/9/12 1:05 PM|
Nope, this is OUTRAGEOUS in this day and and age with all the technology at their disposal, the incompetent "product team" in charge of the Beta Gulag design can't fix a problem going on 3 months already. The only thing yt cares about is making money. I hope they drown in it along with their nincompoop product team, which ought to be called dead zone designers!
|Re: Subscriber count keeps dropping when I get new subscribers||LgacyX6||6/9/12 7:55 PM|
You got that right Ambriel. You got that right.
