I figured everyone else is making a completely new thread to protest iGoogle closing down, so i'm doing one too.
Please don't close it down. It's always been a great utilty. I've not been able to get as much content on one page that loads so fast. I love my google reader, my Reuters tech news, my google trends from both US and AU, and all these other great sites that used widgets that i now explore - the 99 percent, bestofyoutube, comedy central (and their bad/funny jokes).. It's all so great.
Please keep it, or provide a better solution. Sometimes it's worth losing some money over something to keep the Google brand together, focused on helping its users have a great user experience.

This sucks. I use iGoogle all the time. First time I've ever said, Google ... "YOU SUCK"

I just saw the notice and I am sick about it. Admittedly, I am somewhat long of tooth and not likely to set the social media scene on fire, but I love my iGoogle for organizing content and tools in one place. So much for "Don't Be Evil" huh Google?
I have been recommending this to friends and clients for years and almost all are avid users.
Does anyone know of a replacement site where this kind of thing can be replicated?

DONT SHUT DOWN iGOOGLE, PLEASE!!!! I don't care, I use Internet Explorer with Chrome Frame, so I'm not missing out on anything that Chrome users get, I use android, and know about all the things the android market [google play] has to offer, but iGoogle gives you a personalized home page, with Gmail, weather, and all that stuff, I like to reply to emails within iGoogle, and like my home page persionalized, JUST PLEASE DON'T SHUT DOWN IGOOGLE, AND IF YOU DO, DO SOMETHING TO MAKE UP FOR IT!! :'(

Hey Google, not everybody has a smart phone! iGoogle is a great homepage to have, I've been using it for years! Don't just completely get rid of it! When I first saw it was shutting down I figured Google was just going to come out with something better, not just completely get rid of it. That is just a bad idea.

I agree with you and hope all others who agree will post here and, perhaps, if enough do Google will change its position. I doubt that maintaining iGoogle is expensive relative to the other products Google offers, but I also understand that it generates no revenue for them. That being said, there really are other search engines out there now that work; Bing is one. Yahoo another. As much as I am a Google loyalist and have been since their first year of operations, I will leave Google in a heartbeat for a better service. iGoogle is the anchor for me. Don't ditch it Google.

I quit Facebook last week because of the email debacle after complaining and not being heard. Looks like its time to find an alternate to Google. I predict within 3 years, both will go the way of, and just as fast as Myspace as they become of irrelevant and little use to us. These big companies are no longer offering origanal content. Igoogle is being dropped to promote iplay betting it wont fail like the other google fails like google plus etc. These fools will be broke very soon. Remember how big AOL and Netscape used to be, until they changed and made themselves irrelevent. Wisdom for Google, Facebook and Apple. Nobody that was the Hot new thing 10 years ago, survived the Decade.

As announced on the Official Google Blog, iGoogle will be “retired” on 1 November 2013:
