How do I turn off Google Instant permanently?

I am in agreement with others. Quit adding these useless things to Google. it does nothing to add to the usability, Itis just useless eye candy.

Beowulf2k8 9/27/10 8:18 PM changing user-agent string to "I Hate Google Instant" makes google instant go away for good.  Figured this out due to Opera not being afflicted by google insistant.  Google is apparently checking user-agent string to see if your browser is compatible

Did Google change something?  If so, PLEASE change it back. I've tried Everything listed here and on help pages, etc. !!  M

Beth Rogers 10/12/10 6:15 PM BTW, how do you get the Google higher-ups to read these comments?  Do they have some sort of a filter that helps them prioritize what comments to read?  Maybe they look for keywords referring to their competitors.
