Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! JohnMu 5/4/12 1:08 AM Hi! I'm not aware of the detailed legal issues around this warning, and I can't give you advice regarding how you would need to implement this from a legal point of view.  That said, I can give you some general pointers regarding interstitials and si
Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! Chris Hunt 5/4/12 7:14 AM I think I'd need a much better reason than this to take the risk of annoying Google. After all, who's going to be searching for compliance notice text? And if they are, and they find your clients' site, so what? SEO is not a zero-sum game. The fact t
Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! Go-Tell-The-Spartans 5/20/12 10:31 PM Hi Chris, I think you missed the point, with so many of the same words used on every single webpage, which has nothing to do with our clients business, Google may get to thinking the actual business content is less relevant than the Warning, Disclaim
Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! Go-Tell-The-Spartans 5/20/12 10:47 PM Hi John,Thank you for your comments, we have implemented this solution on several of our sites already and have been rolling it out for 3 to 4 weeks now. We had asked the ICO for approval before the rollout date, but they will not be offering any app

I will be removing all of ours within the next few months, just in case Google do take analytics data into account in ranking websites, and they mistakenly misinterpr

Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! ѕquibble 5/30/12 5:43 AM I dont think I am too interesting in a debate on the subject. I posted to see whether you were aware that there is plenty of information on the ICO website where users can read the government guidance for themselves and avoid both over and under inte
Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! Go-Tell-The-Spartans 5/30/12 6:57 AM Yes I agree with you that the ICO website should be checked out, by everyone in the UK, because you can assume that the ICO must be fully compliant. But their compliance is different from the implied consent compliance BT have adopted? Who is right a
Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! Go-Tell-The-Spartans 5/30/12 7:16 AM The law is clear to see, those that offer updated compliance are doing so in the interest of their customers and more importantly the visitors who believe website owners are lawful. Re: URGENT! Legal Cloaking vs ranked listing for none relevant wording ! Go-Tell-The-Spartans 6/6/12 12:25 AM The UK ICO demonstrates how to perform a U-turn only 24 hours prior to the law coming into force in the UK.
