|Android ICS Messaging App shows messages coming from weird numbers instead of contact's number?||Jakobud||5/15/12 12:21 PM|
Using Samsung Galaxy Nexus w/ ICS 4.0.2
In the Google Voice app Settings I have chosen the option to "Receive Text Messages using: The Android Messaging App". When someone I know (who is in my phone's contacts) sends me a text message, it shows up in the Messaging App but it doesn't come in using their real phone number. It comes in using Google Voice's random number, like 617-xxx-xxxx. Is there a GV setting to make the messages show up using that Contact's real number instead?
Also, if I send a text message from the Messenger app, does it send out using my carrier's SMS service or using GV's SMS Service?

It's a feature, not a flaw:
Used to be just 406 and 972 numbers; now includes many other area codes.
