Lion, installed plugins ( do you have any plugins recently installed?) etc. Sometimes it is the behavior of Lion that causes the problem. Lion will always open a program in its most recently closed |

I followed Beryldrue's steps but all so deleted the contents of the "Saved Application States" folders that were related to SketchUp 8.
