| Re: emails bounce back | ams0478 | 10/25/10 7:49 PM | I have a client with this very problem. He was on AT&T, they said they couldn't find any evidence that the problem was on their end (even though http://mmode.com is clearly an AT&T service) but he has since switched to VZW and is *still having the problem* |
| Re: emails bounce back | FrankM TC/Reseller | 10/25/10 10:37 PM | Postini does not forward messages, unless you are using the Postini wireless feature, used only with the Message Center Classic portal. |
| Re: emails bounce back | ams0478 | 10/26/10 7:57 AM | Yes i know that Postini doesn't forward messages -- what i'm trying to find out is what, if anything, is instructing Postini to forward to that http://mmode.com address. It is, after all, a Postini NDR so my thought process here is to see if Postini has an |
| Re: emails bounce back | FrankM TC/Reseller | 10/26/10 10:08 AM | Actually, its not a Postini NDR. Postini error code descriptions end with the text -psmtp. This helps determine which mail server threw the error. Postini is the hostname, so it is coming to you as it is relayed back from the server. |
| Re: emails bounce back | ams0478 | 10/26/10 10:14 AM | OK, thanks for the clarification. I suppose I can try to see if Postini can tell me the origin of the NDR, then. If not, I'm basically out of ideas here. I thought I was the only one who experienced this issue but the original poster here has as w |
| Re: emails bounce back | ams0478 | 10/26/10 9:00 PM | I think this is resolved. Postini sort of nudged me in the right direction, which was the wireless portal that FrankM mentioned. I didn't think any of it originally b/c of the "classic portal" part, but in fact the user himself (or someone on his b |
| Re: emails bounce back | FrankM TC/Reseller | 10/27/10 4:29 AM | We use this feature quite often for our clients who are primarily mobile and need AS/AV filtering. Before the increased availability of smartphones, this is a great feature to allow end users the same filtering functionality. |
| Re: emails bounce back | rhoff1000 | 4/1/11 8:18 AM | I found this forum while searching for a solution to the very same problem. I am an ATT BB user, and admittedly my technical skills are limited. What can I do to resolve this? Thanks very much. |

| Re: emails bounce back | FrankM TC/Reseller | 5/9/12 6:09 AM | One thing to know about Postini, is that the only messages retained are those in quarantine or spooling. Message sent either to a Postini client or from a Postini client that uses Postini's outbound relay, are not held and are sent back. In the event |
| Re: emails bounce back | Peter_James1 | 5/9/12 6:43 PM | Frank, coming from someone who is unaware of http://mmode.com is it the ability to notify users via SMS that an email has been received? if so that would explain the problem quite clearly! one email gets sent which works, and the other email routes to SMS w |
