| Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/10/12 8:36 AM | Around 5am this morning, I got a text alert saying the mail host was unreachable. I got another one a couple of hours later and I can't login to the portal, I just get a 'page can't be displayed' error. Anyone else having issues? |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/10/12 8:47 AM | There are multiple systems, what system number are you on? |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/10/12 1:11 PM | Our mx records are: s7a1s7a2s7b1s7b2 That means we're on version 7, right? |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/10/12 2:30 PM | Yes, system 7. There are no notices on the Postini known issues or status board, so I'll assume it was a temporary issue. However, each issue is separate as they are not directly related, coincidental as they may be. We have test domains on system 7 |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/10/12 7:25 PM | We're still down and I'm not sure why. I get to the login page from my office but get the page can't be displayed error when trying to login. At my house, I can login just fine. All that's showing up is a bunch of 400 errors. Our public IP hasn't cha |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/10/12 8:49 PM | Assuming the process of elimination, your Internet connection may be the problem and not Postini. Did you do a tracert test from within Postini? |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 6:47 AM | Where do I do the tracert test? The Test mail flow to your server test failed, the test an email generated by the data center passed and the test that your mail server can receive mail traffic from the data center failed. Our internet seems to be wo |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 6:54 AM | Nevermind, I found the traceroute test. Do you want me to post the results? |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/11/12 6:55 AM | See systems tests in Delivery Manger. If you are on an Exchange server, check your log files for potential issues,.e.g. most common is low disc storage and or resources. If SMTP tests 1 & 3 fail and 2 passes, most often it's the mail server and or e |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 7:07 AM | would it tell you anything if I posted the traceroute test? |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/11/12 7:28 AM | Does the traceroute connect or not? If the trace route connects from Postini's data center, you can assume you have a server problem. If the traceroute does not connect, you should see that in the test results, where it loses the connection. |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 7:41 AM | It looks like it connects, but I'm not sure. One other thing, when I send to myself from an external account, I'm not getting a bounceback message. Also, we have secure email through Zix, which bypasses Postini and sends directly to our Exchange serv |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/11/12 8:15 AM | There is an obvious issue after the last connection, either DNS, firewall, router etc. Since you have not provided a domain to work from, not much more help can be provided at this time. |

| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/11/12 8:54 AM | I suggest you contact Teamnet. There is no DNS PTR record listed for your IP, which if correct I find to be, 147.xxx.xx.19. This is may or may not be an issues, however there should be a PTR record for reverse DNS. Are you running a hosted Exchange o |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 9:32 AM | Who is Teamnet? The 147.xxx.xx.19 is not our IP address. We have a SBS 2011 box w/Exchange. |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/11/12 11:23 AM | I said "if". If your IP is different, then still need that to help out. Teamnet is where your primary DNS records are hosted. |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 11:30 AM | Sorry, I think that would be the DNS IP address. What do I need to ask them? I'm assuming Postini is fine since we're not getting bouncebacks, it's probably just queing them. Would the DNS issue not allow you to connect to port 25? I would greatly |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/11/12 11:47 AM | Since the IP I assumed may have been correct is not, then the port 25 test is null. Can you login into Postini and see if your email is being spooled? What carrier is your Internet provider? Did you check that circuit? |

| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 12:23 PM | I can't login to Postini from my office but I can from my home. That's beyond a coincidence if you ask me. Our ISP is Windstream. The internet as well as other internet based services we have at the office are working fine, just not Postini. I did fi |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 4:04 PM | Frank, a couple of things I've done in the last few hours. Postini is not spooling our mail. I'm not sure if that tells you anything. I ran telnet into port 25 on our server and sent an email from my Gmail account to my domain account and it went t |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/11/12 8:46 PM | If you can Telnet and it works, I can't explain why a regular delivery from Gmail does not come through or duplicate the receipt of Gmail messages issues. Are you not receiving any email at all? |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/11/12 9:00 PM | We are not receiving any from external accounts but we can receive from within the organization. I even allowed to receive from all IP address, thinking that maybe the Postini IPs had changed, but that still didn't resolve it. It doesn't look like |
| Re: Issues with Postini | FrankM TC/Reseller | 3/12/12 6:13 AM | If Postini was spooling, it would say spooling in the Spooling tab assuming it was turned on. If both the Connection and Delivery Manager graphs are showing mail flow, then I would suspect your mail server may be the issue. I"ll assume you tried othe |
| Re: Issues with Postini | pantherguy | 3/12/12 6:21 AM | I don't believe it is because I don't even see a Spooling tab. The Connection and Delivery Manager are not showing mail flow, they are showing no valid messages or successful connections. Below is the traceroute test, does it tell you anything? Yes, |
