|Google Help for Nexus S in Non US||greenhoob||1/5/11 5:18 AM|
I would like to complain about the help service for Nexus S customers within the UK and I'm guessing other countries other than the US.
I'm experiencing restarting issues, that I've posted about separately in a forum, however it started me looking at what's available for support.
Within http://www.google.co.uk/nexus/#/help - UK version of the help section is says to 'V
That snazzy website is great apart from the fact the first thing it does is ask if you registered - if not follow this link... to the Samsung in the US where you cannot choose a different country. I went separately to the UK Samsung site to try and register my model number with them and the model number is not recognised.
So I go back to the site and I lie and say I have registered my device and it takes me to a very nice page that gives me options to:
* Call a US number if I wish
* Contact a twitter account that explicitly deals with US phones only (and is actually for the Galaxy S)
* Even the 'email us' section takes me through to a webpage that has a mandatory field of which US carrier I'm with
Additionally I'd like to point out that if anyone is struggling to send a text using voice actions in the UK that's because it only works when you switch to the US language for voice input. Something it does imply kind of in the Android manual - For the current list of languages and locations supported by Voice Actions, visit the Google Mobile Help Center at http://www.google.com/support/mobile
However I've been to that website and I would have never been able to find the thing that says that text action doesn't work with the UK setting of the tool. In fact when you follow that link the only info I can find is in Mobile Applications then Voice Actions which has the details of how to use it, but at the bottom it has the usual drop down for the country. If you choose UK it then takes you to the UK version of the mobile support site that doesn't even have voice actions in the Mobile Applications.
I suggest that Google & Samsung should have independent testers from each country they are going to release the phone to test with their regionalisation based support actually offers a decent service.

Seconded. No UK support is not acceptable.

Have you tried calling the carphone warehouse geeksquad?

Thanks for sending us this feedback! We'll make sure the support links are updated. For reference, here are the relevant links for users in the UK:
- Samsung Registration: http://www.samsung.com/uk/register
- Samsung Contact info: http://www.samsung.com/uk/info/contactus.html
Additionally, the Nexus S Help Site is US based, but support FAQS are located here:
Thanks again for the heads up!

I'm sorry Ravi but the Samsung Registration in the UK doesn't even have the model number of the Nexus S as a drop down, I have tried to register it, so I cannot use your first link.
The contact information and FAQs link that you provided are general contact numbers and provide no UK specific information on the actual phone in question.
But can you please help me understand how to escalate an issue that is currently already within these forums, as frankly google seems to have not responded and I have experienced several reboots during calls. I would like to understand whether I need to escalate through google or Samsung. Additionally can you provide any background you know on what is being done about this frustrating issue.

I too am unable to register my device on the Samsung UK website. It will not recognise the model, serial or save the information.

I must admit that I too found it galling to discover that the automated email I received only considers US customers. Thank you Ivar for the alternative link, I have now managed to register my phone.

I have experienced exactly the same frustrations as greenhoob. It is as if the UK doesn't exist when the Nexus S is concerned. The support links have not been updated - I am still sent to a US site. The UK site has seemingly not even heard of the Nexus S - search Samsung UK's site for it!
I find it pretty incredible that http://www.google.co.uk/nexus/#/help contains not one single link that is helpful to UK users.

I have managed to register on My Samsung - as recommended on this forum I used the model Number GT-I9020
(that's an i). Not sure if it means anything, but the device is now added to the list of Samsung things registered for warranty (i have a 3D TV as well) and the warranty period is stated as 24 months.
but I agree with earlier posts that Google are acting a bit cavalier by not making sure UK users are able to register. The least Google should do is to make some explicit instructions available on their website. Now that shouldn't take long for a technology giant to get done should it?

I am getting really frustrated trying to register my Nexus S on the UK website, has anyone managed to do it? If so how?
|Re: Google Help for Nexus S in Non US||dglander||4/17/11 1:12 PM|
@pcdoc22, where abouts does it state the warranty period?
In my account under the 'my product' tab it just shows a generic icon of a phone with the model and serial numbers that I input listed underneath, there's nothing about warranty period etc.
I don't feel like my expensive phone has been properly registered and I need some reassurance from Google or Samsung.

Hello, I also in this problem. There is no way to register on the Samsung website, is pretty frustating. I am putting the correct IMEI, but it says its an invalid serial number, I tryed all number printed in the phone label, that is "as instructions in the website register. My phone is a GT-I9023, and it is not registrable. Why I need to get angry with this issue? Samsung does not care about the rest of the world???
|Re: Google Help for Nexus S in Non US||pcdoc22||5/9/11 5:10 PM|
dglander- you are right - the warranty period is generic and for all mobile phones - does not specify for my particualr purchase.
There is a facility to raise a query though and lists warranty as one of the options in the drop down list..
|Re: Google Help for Nexus S in Non US||pcdoc22||5/9/11 5:10 PM|
3esmit - try to register as GT-I9020..

|Re: Google Help for Nexus S in Non US||3esmit||6/9/11 5:54 AM|
Seems like that samsung thinks that: US is the best, and the rest of the world sucks.
|Re: Google Help for Nexus S in Non US||assas||6/20/11 3:06 PM|
and the funny thing is that i talked with US Support online(because it is the only support) and they recommend me to search my issue on google. They are brilliant.
