| Google earth on Ipad3 | helpmeoutnow | 12/07/01 2:21 | Im wanting to use google earth on an Ipad but want to be able to draw lines, polygons etc as per the full product on my PC. Is this possible or is there an App that i need for Ipad? Thanks |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | Beryldrue | 12/07/01 15:16 | The mobile version of Google Earth does not yet have those capabilities. I have the iPad 3 also and use the version of Google Earth that is now available for the device. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | y_ich | 12/07/01 23:45 | LineString and Polygon are supported on Google Earth for iOS though it is not perfect. Save http://code.google.com/apis/kml/documentation/KML_Samples.kml in your PC and make Folders of Paths and Polygons visible (checked) and save that status on Goog |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | helpmeoutnow | 12/07/02 12:18 | Thanks Beryldrue. Looks like I may have to wait for this functionality |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | helpmeoutnow | 12/07/02 12:20 | Thanks for the information y_ichIm not sure that i explained myself fully but Im wanting to be able to draw lines and polygons from the Ipad whislt out 'in the field'. Unless I read your response wrong it sounds like I create them in PC Google earth |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | y_ich | 12/07/02 20:28 | Sorry, I completely misunderstood your question. Since I was checking abilities of GE on iOS, I was confused your question and what I was doing. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | freediverx | 12/07/08 10:08 | Doesn't look like they offer this feature right now. On a related note, can you zoom into a large city using Google Earth on your iPad without crashing? For me, zooming deep into any area with a lot of 3D buildings instantly crashes the app. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | Jason Bigger | 12/07/08 16:52 | I got this problem as well, every time zoom in a place with many 3D models, app crashes. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | freediverx | 12/07/08 16:58 | Now I'm actually wondering if anyone doesn't have this issue. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | Jason Bigger | 12/07/08 18:20 | hmm, you are the first person I know who has the same issue with Google Earth crashes for rendering 3D models. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | y_ich | 12/07/08 18:28 | Hi, I have a quick question for you guys. Are you talking about Google Earth 7 for iOS since addressing 3D buildings? It is not available in Japan yet. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | Jason Bigger | 12/07/08 18:32 | Hi, Yuji How do you get Google Earth 7, the lastest version for iPad is 6 right? Jason |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | y_ich | 12/07/08 18:38 | I think so at least in Japan. The latest version for iPad (6.2) doesn't have 3D buildings feature. So I wonder why everyone talks about an issue for 3D building... |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | freediverx | 12/07/08 18:59 | I'm running version 6.2.0 and it does have 3D structures in some areas. For instance, see these 3D images of a cruise ship docked in Key West: |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | y_ich | 12/07/08 19:21 | Wow! I am so surprised!I'm using version 6.2.1.6400 in Japan, but there are no 3d buildings.Do I need any setting? |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | freediverx | 12/07/08 19:29 | I couldn't find any 3D settings in the app nor even any mention of 3D in the app's description in the App Store. Maybe they're just testing this now without announcing it... I went to Tokyo and all the buildings are in 3D, but again, the app crashes |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | Jason Bigger | 12/07/08 19:33 | Hi, Walter I did same thing as you. went to the center of Tokyo, amazing all 3D buildings. however, crashed without any doubt. Jason |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | Jason Bigger | 12/07/08 19:34 | I have even switched iPad language into Japanese, no luck either. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | freediverx | 12/07/08 19:34 | Google Earth for Mobile website:http://www.google.com/mobile/earth/ "*3D buildings is only available for devices powered by Android 3.0 or newer. " Looks like I may have been complaining about an as yet unannounced feature. They may be limiting acce |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | freediverx | 12/07/08 19:35 | Meant to say 4S, not 4D |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | y_ich | 12/07/08 19:40 | My iPad is also 3rd. So I guess it is limited by regions.Anyway, Thank you for really interesting information. I am looking forward version 7, or stable 3d on 6.2. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | y_ich | 12/07/08 19:47 | Correction.3D buildings are appeared in English language! And same as everyone, it crashs when I am seeing New York.Seems lack of memory. |
| Re: Google earth on Ipad3 | Jason Bigger | 12/07/08 20:06 | yo, Walter I am on iPad 3 |
