| Fonts looks bad, almost unreadable, running Google Earth 6 on Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 | cdysthe | 4/20/11 11:21 AM | i'm running Google Earth 6 on Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 x64. It installs and runs fine, but the fonts look very bad, almost unreadable. What could the problem be? You can see a screenshot of it here: http://tinypic.com/m/ego3yw/3 |

| Re: Fonts looks bad, almost unreadable, running Google Earth 6 on Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 | cdysthe | 4/21/11 2:15 PM | I tried qtconfig as well. No go. Oh well, we'll have to wait until enough people have the problem and hope for a fix. |

| Re: Fonts looks bad, almost unreadable, running Google Earth 6 on Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 | rmtk313 | 4/22/11 8:46 AM | It is a long-standing problem of the Qt library Google Earth uses. If your language is not English, you cannot see any character at all.We need to replace the Qt libraries as well as some other files to prevent segfault: 1. "Good" Qt libraries from D |

| Re: Fonts looks bad, almost unreadable, running Google Earth 6 on Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 | mrsoccermom | 4/23/11 1:17 PM | I tried similar file replacements on Mandriva 2010.1. There were additional dependencies to libfreeimage.so.3 (which wasn't available to `urpmi` on my 64-bit system). I got GE to come up, and the fonts were correct, but a lot of other things broke. |

I don't often use the built-in browser, but when I went to an earthquake page at http://usgs.gov, it rendered the page, then a second or two late |

The fonts in GE6 aren't antialiased. I tried the workarounds mentioned in this thread, and got nice-looking fonts, but a few other elements disappeared. This was a major time waster to have to go to these lengths to solve something which makes GE6 unusable in my view. Thanks very much for this fix. |

Either they have no effect on the anti-aliasing of fonts (dit1 and MrF1022), or render all other GUI elements (tab frames, checkboxes, etc.) invisible (dmig and rmtk313 |
