Brandon5699 5/3/12 9:43 PM Google drive would be absolutely perfect for me, and a complete replacement for Dropbox if I could figure out the functionality of two things.  1 How can I just download a file to my Android phone? I tried Send but I get no Send to SD card option. An

Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... Brandon5699 5/4/12 11:31 AM Thanks very much for your reply. I appreciate the assistance, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I've tried to search the group posts and the Internet for how to download a file.  Say I'm on my Google Drive app on Android and I've got a zip

Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... Brandon5699 5/4/12 11:43 AM When you click Export on Dropbox you have an option "Send to SD card" which you can then choose a folder. I would love to see that option available in Google Drive.  Also, in Dropbox, when you click Share you have an option at the top that says "Copy
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... JayJerks 5/9/12 1:18 PM This is exactly what I want, and need.  There is seriously no reason I should not be able to download files from the google drive android client and be able to save them on the SD Card to the location of my choosing. Its kinda absurd that they don't
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... behere 5/15/12 11:06 AM Google, any feedback on this limitation - any plans to fix it? Thanks for the awesome products!
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... Brandon5699 5/15/12 11:31 AM Yeah, I would still love an answer to these questions. It seems relatively easy to do. Just add Save to SD card into the Android app, and add share to link into the sharing portion. The technology is already there, it just needs to be added to the An
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... MrBultitude 6/10/12 1:37 PM Same problem here!  I have custom ringtones and icons on Google Drive that I need to be able to download to my phone.  Love Google Drive but this is a key missing feature.  Google please help!
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... theblueone4040 7/9/12 4:40 PM The method detailed in this post requires root, but it does work.  Bit of a PITA to do, so I will just stick with dropbox till they get this fixed.   http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622226
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... vash1053 7/24/12 4:17 PM For anyone wondering about this, I suggest using Google Drive Download. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hexxus.drive.download
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... Geofuzzy 8/16/12 9:09 AM Excellent Find, this functionality should be, and probably will be put into the Drive app soon but for .99 it is a great stop gap.
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... vash1053 8/17/12 7:06 PM Google removed Google Drive Download.  It has been renamed and re-released as Cloud2SD.  Find it at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hexxus.cloudtosd
Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... ITGuy11 11/27/12 8:12 PM I don't understand why this is not included in the app, very annoying.
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... Mark Ashton 2012 12/14/12 5:59 AM On android if you make the file available offline first using the standard Google Drive app. Then once it has downloaded, use a file manager to browse your sd card/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.docs and keep going. You will find your file in h
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... Tony92103 1/24/13 9:45 PM Can't open this copy of a .doc
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... redEvo 1/25/13 10:29 PM It looks like the app is flexible enough to allow other apps to interact with it. If you install File Manager ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm ) you can attach your Google Drive account and download files from there. Onc
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... samandirie1 4/16/13 6:36 PM Doesn't work for me... permissions and filename seem to be OK, but if it's (say) an .ogg file no music player will open it (unrecognized file type).  Poop.
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... samandirie1 4/16/13 6:42 PM I'm using ES File Explorer's "Net" (Cloud) functionality to access Drive files. It's ridiculous that Google's own app doesn't offer a download function. Using ES FE: Select the "net" view in the options (in the top left pull-down menu - changing the
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... redEvo 4/17/13 10:20 AM Good to know that's an option. I had tested it with .zip files, which will let me open using File Explorer. It takes me to the folder where it was downloading (some temp folder) and I can then copy it to a new location. Maybe Google's theory is that
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... samandirie1 4/17/13 10:29 AM redEvo: my players have no trouble reading .ogg files usually.  I wonder if perhaps the files are being encrypted in some way when they're downloaded locally using the "make available offline" option?  This would make sense to me as a feature, provid
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... redEvo 4/17/13 10:43 AM Not sure. I just uploaded Example.ogg from wikimedia ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Example.ogg ) to my drive, then was able to play it on my phone from the Drive app. It opened and played fine in the stock music app, even when it was made
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... vash1053 4/17/13 10:55 AM Another option is to just get Cloud2SD.  You download it, and then use the Google Drive app as usual.  To download something, you long-press it, hit "Send", and then tap Cloud2SD's download icon.  File gets saved to your Downloads folder.  Pretty eas
Re: Google Drive Android App, downloaded files and sharing links... samandirie1 4/17/13 10:59 AM Yah, I saw Cloud2SD mentioned earlier in the thread.  However, since I had ES File Explorer already installed, I thought I'd see if it supported it out of the box rather than go to the trouble of installing yet *another* app (and a fairly narrow scop
