|My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||GameOver154||8/6/12 11:20 AM|
So I have been using Google Chrome on my work computer for a few months now with no problems. I normally have no more than two windows open, one with anywhere from two to give tabs open and the other with anywhere from 18 to 50 tabs open. I have no extensions or add-ons besides SessionBuddy installed on my Chrome. Today, my Chrome has had only one window and about 20-25 tabs open and has been crashing every ten to fifteen minutes. There are no actions I have been doing that correlate with Chrome crashing so I am very puzzled as to why this keeps happening.
Before today, my Chrome has never crashed on this computer (even given the amount of tabs I have had open since day 1). It has been very frustrating as every time I'll be working on something, I'll have to take a momentary pause for Chrome to crash and then reboot and restore itself. I have Google Chrome version 21.0.1180.60 m.

Same here, been using Chrome for ages, I have had the odd crash where certain sites have confused it but now I cannot even open Chrome as is crashes on startup. This is the second day so restarting my windows 7 64 bit pc does not help.
Have tried deleting the personal data, did not help, tried scanning the secure data as per the help file which did not help.
Gonna have to use Firefox as I have things I need to get done even though it is not as good as Chrome, when it was working that is!
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||jaffacakes66||8/7/12 4:20 AM|
Same here..For some time google chrome as been crashing on me and its now getting more frequent. I have tried everything it states on the troubleshooting page e.g extensions (dont have any), antivirus/firewall settings (all as should be with the exceptions), malaware (checked) and changing the name of the google folder in my computer (done this) but its worse than ever. Maybe this has something to do with either windows xp (which is always automatically updated everyday) or its a fault on googles side.

1.It says, "Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed! Would you like to relaunch?" without warning.
2. 21.0.1180.89 m
3. I have "Adblock", "Media Player", and "Search Image (by Google)".
4. Norton Antivirus
5. It still crashes the same way.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||jackyhayward||9/11/12 1:39 PM|
Are there particular actions you're taking that trigger a crash? How many tabs do you have open at a particular time?
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||jaffacakes66||9/12/12 1:02 PM|
Only 1 tab with me but was happening all the time when I had windows. I think its to do with windows. Recently Ive gone with linux and not had any trouble at all.

|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||Bangalore Aviation||9/26/12 7:25 AM|
Chrome 22.0.1229.79 on Mac OS X 10.6.8
Chrome is just hanging a few seconds after loading a web page. This happens on many pages, but not on Google pages (this forum for example). However, the pages that do hang on Chrome are working fine on both Safari and FireFox.
Same problem with Incognito.
If I let the page load completely, then it hangs. The hyperlinks inside the page do work, but they are "misplaced" i.e. the hyperlink URLs appear correctly on the page, but the underlying link itself may be 2 or 3 inches away (sort of as if there is a video problem).
Also, if I attempt to resize the window (the anchor at the bottom right of the window), the page goes blank (all white), and I must refresh the page.
If I refresh (Cmd R) and interrupt the loading (via X icon) at the right moment, I can see almost the whole page, and then the page does not hang. Window re-sizing also works fine.
Am using McAfee Enterprise Security Anti Virus. Chrome was working fine till yesterday. No software, extensions, etc. installed, updated or removed.
Completely uninstalled Chrome (including deleting User/Library/App Support/Google/Chrome directory), and re-installed, with Sync, same problem. and then repeated clean re-install without Sync to my Google Account. (i.e. no extensions, completely default out of the box settings). No joy.
I am completely baffled by this.
Kindly help and oblige.
Thanks in advance

Sorry forgot to add. Even tried to disable the McAfee A/V after the clean re-install and no sync, but not joy there too.

Here are your questions and my answers:
Answer: Whoa google chrome has crashed
What version of Chrome are you using? Wrench Menu>About Google Chrome
Answer: Version 24.0.1312.40 beta-m (but this was happening before I installed the Beta, I just tried that to see if it would fix it, it did not).
What extensions do you have installed? In the address bar, type chrome://chrome/extensions/
Answer: AutocompletePro plugin for chrome, AVG Secure Search, Chrome youTube Downloader, Freemake Video Converter, Google Voice (by Google), Google+ Notifications. (All of these were running sometime before I started having the problem).
What antivirus/firewall are you using?
Answer: AVG Free
What happens when you browse in incognito mode? Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) + Shift + N
Answer: I crash often, same message.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome. I deleted my default folder, and made a new account. I stood on my head and counted to ten.
I just keep crashing, this is after months of using Chrome with no problems, and suddenly Whoa! constantly. I'm running Win7 64

|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||Mandy Howey||1/16/13 9:28 PM|
I get "Aw Snap" message every few minutes. I am not a computer savvy person. I don't even know what some of the "fix" suggestions mean. This all started after I disabled JAVA. Shockwave started crashing first. I disabled that. Now nothing lasts long. I'm lost. IE doesn't work. I guess its time to go to Firefox.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||johnnyta||1/17/13 9:21 AM|
It keeps crashing on my home Windows computer to a point it won't stay open for more than 10s. There was a point when I hit shut down, and remembered I had to check something, canceled the shutting down operation, opened up Chrome. It crashed once there but workable after.
I have tried uninstalled Chromea and downloaded the newest version. It doesn't help

Recently, my chorome keeps crashing. Version 24.0.1312.52 m The browser will shut down completely, and then when it restarts states something about crashing. sorry, will have more details later.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||JackyH||1/18/13 11:32 AM|
For those of you with more recent reports of Chrome crashing, please follow these troubleshooting steps:
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||techphets||1/19/13 10:11 AM|
1. Version 24.0.1312.52 m.
2. No extensions - Boo... You have no extensions :-( Want to browse the gallery instead?
Even for B, where I say 5%, I have seen that error more in the last couple of months than in the entire time I've been using Chrome, which has been at least two years. As soon as I heard about it I switched to using it full-time.
4. Since this is not the common error I have not visited the link.
A few things to note (starting with 5. to avoid confusion with 1-4 above).
5. I am running Windows XP SP3 in an Oracle VM Virtual Box virtual machine with a Windows 7 host. My Windows 7 Chrome browser is working flawlessly. I use the VM more frequently than the host OS and have no other problems with it.
6. Although I've been having crash issues with Chrome, the last few days were trouble-free. One website which is almost guaranteed to crash Chrome is gmail.com. After trying to visit gmail again today, I googled "google chrome keeps crashing" and ended up at productforums.google.com/forum/... reading this forum post. Chrome crashed more often here than it does with gmail. With gmail I can eventually fight my way through the crashes to read an email and click a forum activation link or something similar. Not here. I was unable to read, respond, etc.
7. To deal with these issues I have been loading IE8 on the XP VM and using it to navigate to the websites instead. I've noticed that consistently, every page prompts to use Adobe Flash in IE8 after loading.
Is there a way to disable flash in Chrome? I'm not positive Flash is related but it is not something I've been able to rule out yet.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||techphets||1/19/13 10:26 AM|
Found this advice on another thread here:
Go to chrome://flags/ and disabled GPU compositing on all pages.
I am now able to visit this site and gmail without crashes.
After that I went to chrome://plugins and disabled Shockwave and Flash. Then re-enabled GPU compositing.
Chrome is still working ok.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||Mandy Howey||1/20/13 11:01 AM|
Well Jacky - those fixes don't work ...ESPECIALLY if you don't know what half of them are. Not all of us are computer savvy. Very disappointed in Chrome. It was supposed to be my lifesaver after IE stopped functioning. But it isn't. It's almost as bad. Maybe worse. IE froze up a lot. Chrome sends out "Aw Snap" messages or program unresponsive messages or you have crashed.
Its hard to work from home like this.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||shortyr||1/21/13 12:58 PM|
If you have Windows 7 64bit, use Internet Explorer 64bit. That is what I had to do. Chrome kept coming up with Kill pages.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||techphets||1/21/13 3:55 PM|
My problems have not gone away 100%. If I completely disable flash then things are better. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash and removed all files from the directory shown when I navigate chrome to chrome://plugins (I still continue to wonder why I need to memorize a URL to see my plugins versus clicking somewhere in a menu but that's beside the point).
Even after deleting the files from c:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\24.0.1312.52\PepperFlash\ I still see Adobe Flash Player Version 18.104.22.168 and Shocwarve Flash 11.5 r31 as one of the Plug-Ins (I have it disabled but somehow am still able to enable it w/o the files there).
Flash is acting up in FF as well and, since this is an XP VM, I can only run IE as high as 8. Flash works fine there but the browser does not support much.

Omg....Google chrome was working fine for me yesterday , this morning and now at night , currently , i just started my PC and just been browsing around all sudden my google chrome is crashing like crazy !
I didn't even install any new extension / even any new programs / PC hardware recently , what's going on ??
Has google chrome been updated recently ? I don't even know if google chrome ever has been updated , does google chrome even inform you if it's being updated ? I never once have an " update request " from google chrome before

^This happened to me too. Was very happy with Chrome, never had any issues; in fact I'm using it now on my work laptop. However on my home PC one day last week it began crashing constantly, particularly when using flash. It was so bad I had to install Firefox, which has been stable since.

1. No message, Page will freeze and when I try to reload the page, chrome goes unresponsive and I have to use task manager to end the program
2.Version 24.0.1312.57 m
3. AdBlock and Image Unhider
4. AVG free 2013
5. I have never used incognito

Same here and I don't have nearly as many tabs open in a window.
Are you getting the "Aw Snap" or crashing shock wave messages? Those are the errors that I keep getting
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||sandycanetti||2/22/13 3:10 PM|
I can't even do that. As soon as I click on anything, Chrome stops responding. It seems to happen when I'm signed in, but now I can't even sign out to gain control back rendering Chrome useless to me. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that is not helping. Back to Firefox.
|Re: My Google Chrome Keeps Crashing||joshua bonifas||2/24/13 9:55 AM|
This has got to be the most irritating thing right now. Am I going to go back to Firefox or IE for the time being, well, no! Their browsers are too slow, but at the same time I cannot access any of my info saved by Chrome including bookmarks which I had a ton of! For some reason, I can surf around chrome and use it just fine so long as I DON'T log into chrome in order for it to sync all of my info. I can log into any other account, including Gmail, but the moment I sign into chrome for it to sync up all of my info under my email name, it automatically crashes every time within 5 seconds. The message 'Whoa! Chrome has crashed, would you like to relaunch now?' always appears and when I click on relaunch, the same message will just come up again within seconds without ever relaunching. When this happens I have to uninstall and then re install Google every time since I can't even open a new browser once it has crashed again. So like I said, I am using Chrome without being signed in, which sucks, but I really would hope someone can find an answer to this fix as it seems I am not the only one with the problem. I have tried disabling Flash and Java and disabling my GPU composting on all pages and also changing the name of my default user profile and creating a new one as well and all to no avail :(

I've been having issues with Chrome over the last few days. At first it would just crash randomly, and I'd get the "Woah! Chrome has crashed!" message, now if I just try to open Chrome up, I get a message saying "Chrome has crashed, would you like to search for a solution and close the program, or close the program?". Clicking search does nothing. As I can't get Chrome open, I have no idea what version I have. As far as I know, my only extension is Adblock. I've gone through my computer and uninstalled anything that looks dodgy, but this hasn't helped.
Please help! I don't want to have to use Firefox, it's so slow!

I had such a terrible time with Chrome crashing that I sold my nexus 7 and stopped using the browser. I was going to buy a Chromebook, but after this really annoying experience I shelled out the extra cash for a MacBook. It's not a good idea to be so dependent on software that crashes randomly, and that has no support. My school assignts were very negatively affected by this problem. Thanks Google, you have made me an Apple customer for life.

My google chrome keeps crashing too. I reinstalled google chrome twice. Deleted and reinstalled it twice to see if that would work. Updated it, I also cleared history, I also tried deleting all bad extensions that could be harming it. I even tried using firefox instead but firefox also crashed. My shockwave flash crashed and I reinstalled shock wave and nothing. I deleted extra google chrome add ons from my control panel. I even saw some articles about changing the control panel settings and checked my fire walls and online security to allow all online content into my computer without blocking it. And I enabled cookies, and I even tried allowing popups. Just to eventually go back to the way it was. My chrome and firefox still constantly crash and I can't figure out why is there a registry repair tool I need to download? Is there something that can help me? If I try three tabs google chrome crashes. If I watch a video on tumblr or youtube shockwave flash crashes. Please help me. I tried to google every possible answer and even tried JAckH's answer and still nothing works.

Have you updated your Adobe Flash player. This is what caused my problem, because it clashes with the built in Google Chrome Flash player.
I disabled the Google Flash player, and all is now working perfectly.
If you look at my last post,(it is a couple of posts up and shows as me(Ray Nock)), there is a link there to HOW TO GEEK, and this shows how to disable the flash player.

I have had similar issues. I've had the Aww Snap messages, the Whoa Chrome has crashed messages, I've had Chrome not load pages at all, I've had chrome load pages and elements on these pages haven't worked, yet when I load the same page in IE9 it works fine, I've had the wait/Kill all pages pop up box, and I've had Chrome trailing and not even loading the page. I had the latest version, and I event uninstalled and reinstalled the browser several times to see if it works. I didn't even have any extensions either. and the Antivirus/Firewall is Windows Security essentials.
Is it anything to do with 64 bit systems?

If you are experiencing this issue recently, we are already discussing Chrome crashes on this thread. As this thread was opened over a year ago and the issue is likely no longer the same, I am going to close this topic to new replies.
