My Google Checkout account was closed without any explanation or advance warning. Sad...... why is Google, a world-renowned company, do something like this? We have processed thousands of orders with Google.... and I just recently refunded a $3,000 order..... is that the reason?

I too had my account closed at least I think I know why, a hacker hacked into our system and did thing that we had no idea was done until our account was closed.

Once Google Checkout has closed you down then there is no way on earth that you can be re-instated while you are breathing, the only way to be re-instated is to pass oveer and come back as a different person
GC do not have to give any reason, they just simply close you down and refund any payment not sent to your bank account back to your VERY happy customers, they get the goods and their money back

Let me tell you the same exact thing happened to me last month, my GOOGLE CHECKOUTS MERCHANT ACCOUNT was CLOSED WITH NO JUSTIFICATION but you know what i did? i got my very own "NO SET-UP FEE MERCHANT ACCOUNT" WITH FIRST DATA INDEPENDENT SALES. I will no longer allow PAYPAL nor GOOGLE CHECKOUTS to handle my financial affairs.

I never thought i'd say a payment processor is worse than paypal, but google checkout is definitely 10x worse than paypal. My account was also closed for no reason, no warning, no explanation.

mine is close too and all my order shipped and show deliver one didn't have a tracking number but the buyer email googlecheckout i was only selling i didn't have any other way to feed my family it been almost a month are going on a month i only have 275 dollars hold not the big money even if the buyer email them they keep asking the same thing again and again now i use all the money i had to ship out the good but this was long before they close my account so am parying that they pay me for the order cause i have no way of paying my rent i don't know what to do i was just trying to find a way to support my family

@ JOSE1963 I am very sorry to read that google checkout did you the way they did, I must tell all of you i've found a very different way of getting my money and it's TOTALLY LEGAL, and this is by using a PREPAID DEBIT CARD.
All a customer has to do is know your card number, who to put in the PAY TO SECTION, and the amount you're charging. You can also add the cost of depositing their money onto your card back to them. Your customer can go to WESTERN UNION and fill out a PREPAID CARD SLIP to post their payments to you.
EVERYONE STOP USING THESE SITES LIKE PAYPAL AND GOOGLE CHECKOUTS they're RIP-OFFS and start using your own PREPAID DEBIT CARDS TO RECEIVE YOUR MONEY!

I was looking at all my GCO accts to update any info I may need, as I like to keep a list of my accts. GCO makes it so hard, because if you list in multiple venues, you need a GCO for each one. Anyway, while doing this tonight, I found out that 2 of my accounts have been closed. I have no reason why. Was never notified either. Found it very puzzeling. I had those accounts assigned to a selling venue. Maybe because I hadn't sold anything there? I wish they'd at least notify you and give you a reason.

There lack of support is criminal.

Google Checkout account closed for no reason, here in Britain, I never even used it :) dont really need it as I have a bank merchant account,
They closed my daughter's account then feeling happy go lucky they decided to close mine too ?????
Guilty by association I guess ...
Oh well , she opened a Paypal account straight away.
I will NEVER use Google checkout as a buyer , or any google products as a merchant.
Google is one DUMB and badly managed company.
We switched to Bing and Yahoo for search too ......

Without warning, my Google Checkout account was closed. I have logged in over 150 individual transactions of which there were 2 disputes, both decided in my favor. I applied for reconsideration, submitting all the requested paperwork, and was flatly denied for account reinstatement. Fortunately, I also have authorize.net and PayPal accounts for my e-commerce websites. Google's policy is arbitrary and unfair to merchants. Google will never give a specific reason for termination of accounts. Google is not obligated to give a reason for termination of accounts, which leaves open the possibility for racial, ethnic, or sexual discrimination.
Here is the original account closure notification I received from Google on 12/21/2011:
Your Google Checkout account ID: xxxx...@gmail.com was recently
reviewed by our payments specialists. As a result of this review, your
account has been closed. Any pending, uncharged and future transactions
made with this account will not be processed.
Google Checkout merchants are periodically reviewed to ensure an overall

I had a account less than 30 days and they closed my account and I just charged a order over 3,000.00. They told me they hope I can contact my customer and get the money? REALLY? Is this a joke!
I think I will be switching portals, but I want my money first.

I'm having the same issue that you had with GC. Did you get your money??? They shut down my account and i had over $1300 on Payouts. I have been asking to all the customers for the payment if they receive the refund back to their card but they keep saying that still not receive yet. Its been almost 5 business days since they close the account . Off course i have been trying to get in touch with them but nothing happen. Please let me know

I have refunded bigger ones.. I had someone place a $5000 order I refunded.
You get these brilliant customers who buy 100 items when your website says "5 available".
The customer even was dropshipping it! 100 items! So, naturally I refunded him.
So, I am guessing that is not the reason you were shut down.
i was shut down as well. I am guessing it is based on the whim of whoever is looking at your account, which is likely any of these reasons:
1. You don't have high enough feedback from customers.
2. You did not put the tracking numbers in fast enough (even if you shipped it fast enough).
3. You got a couple chargebacks out of 100's or 1000's of orders and Google can't handle or does not like chargebacks (I had two easy to win ones and they apparently freaked out).
So, who knows.. I had some guy at Ebay close down 100 to 200 of my auctions once by accident (he said essentially whoops with no real apology).
So, could be any reason whatsoever.. Could be you really did nothing wrong..

Sounds like what happened to me.. I had almost 1000 recent transactions.. I had two easy to win non-receipt disputes, which Google for some reason could not win even when I gave them the tracking number.
What a joke. Paypal would win those 100% of the time in their sleep.
So, 2 chargebacks out of like 800+ orders and they close me? Are you serious?
I have had 12 disputes at one time in Paypal and they were ok..
What a joke.. No Google support. Total blackout on the account.. Is this what you call a business?

Same problem as everyone else here, and the same generic email from "Mike" saying bye bye!
No problems with how we managed account, we have thousands of customers that are happy. Again a few charge-backs against thousands of good sales. We also used the Checkout badge until they pulled that, with no explanation or warning last summer. We now cannot even access the record of the sales and customers, so from an accounting perspective this creates even more problems. How is this reasonable? With the billions that Google generates there is absolutely no excuse for not providing proper customer support, especially when other smaller companies provide it, ours can manage and we are tiny in comparison. There is no excuse for treating customers with such contempt, large corporations have even less excuse.
The most sickening thing is that Google have been trying to phase out the Checkout for some time now (obviously not enough billions to be reaped from it) but rather than be honest they are booting people off without reason. Google's "don't be evil slogan" is an absolute joke, they behave like the worst mega corporate monster on the planet.

This is all too familiar. The same thing happened to me but with paypal also. SO after a lot of research and mistakes I found a company www.merchantinc.com that gives me no problems processing transactions and the money goes directly to my bank account.

Hi there, Not sure if you are still planning on taking legal action but I would be happy to jump on that "bandwagon". I just started a new business and have everything attached to Google - my email, Analytics, Checkout, Merchant Center...on and on. I created a Google Plus account and attached a business page to it. My Profile was suspended and I can't get clarification as to why. My competitors are all listed on Google Plus so I don't think it goes against their policy. A day after my Google+ account was suspended - I got my first order. Yippee! I received an e-mail from my first potential customer letting me know that they could not submit their credit card because it said "Google Checkout" was unavailable due to our "account being closed". I didn't even know the account had been closed until my first potential customer told me. I lost my first customer, have had to scramble to find a merchant service and face the fact that this may have caused me my business since most customers are through word-of-mouth which is now tainted and I was at the start of my business. If nothing else, it has cost me clients that may have found me through Google+ but will now find my competitors instead.
