How do I force Talk/Chat/Messenger to use my entries in contacts and not each individual service profile? 3DKing 7/2/12 3:20 AM In google contacts the contact is named as "Julius 'Augustus' Funkyname" and that's how he get's displayed in gmail and gtalk on my android. In google+ he's displayed as "Teenage Mutant 'Ninja' Turtle" because of his own entries in the google+ profil

KeithR 7/3/12 3:26 AM You can change the names displayed by going to the Contacts Manager and altering the names there.  Make sure that you check both Other Contacts as well as My Contacts or use the merge duplicates feature before making changes.

It's connected to the G+ profile and Google profile. In Gmail it shows the name just like I named it "Julius 'Augustus' Funkyname". In G+ it totally ignores that and displays the name as

KeithR 7/3/12 3:59 AM Ah yes, sorry.  I didn't read carefully.  Unfortunately, the answer is that Google Plus uses profile data for everything: chats, circles, posts, hangouts.  There is only one name for any individual, otherwise sharing circles could become very confusi

Unfortunately it leads to the very exact confusion you described by seperating google+ profile date from google contacts entries.
