No notification of incoming message Chibi Charla 3/15/12 1:23 PM Hello, I have problem with Google talk on my Android. I activated locking screen via gesture. From this time, when my screen turns off  I have problem with google talk notification. When my screen is on, and someone sends me message, talk shows noti
Re: No notification of incoming message KatherineG 3/15/12 5:42 PM Hi Charla, It sounds like you need to update your Settings to be notified of this.  Have you gone into the Talk settings and made sure that you've turned on notifications for even when your phone is locked?   Let me know!Katherine
Re: No notification of incoming message milkchug2000 3/30/12 12:27 AM I am having the exact same problem. Settings indicate that it should notify me even if the screen is off. I do notice that the LED on my phone blinks if a notification comes through, but I would really prefer the noise. Anyone have any ideas?
Re: No notification of incoming message KatherineG 4/6/12 4:46 PM Thank you both for letting me know what you're seeing.  Would you mind providing your version of Android as well as phone type? Thank you!Katherine
Re: No notification of incoming message Chibi Charla 4/7/12 12:39 AM Hi, I have Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini PRO with Android 2.3.4. If Google Talk needs update, it should update itself like Google Play.
Re: No notification of incoming message milkchug2000 4/7/12 12:00 PM I have a Huawei Ideos x5 running 2.3.5After a little more searching it seems that when the screen turns off, so does the connection to Google services. I read that when the wifi indicator is green, I am connected to Google and when it's white, it's n
Re: No notification of incoming message conor103 6/20/12 10:58 PM I am glad it's not just me. I don't think this bug has really been fixed. I have a Gnex with the latest version of ICS and when I use Talk, my phone only vibrates/dings a notification for talk if i have it set to open as a dialog box and not just not
Re: No notification of incoming message JasonTheGamer 7/17/12 10:38 AM I'm getting the same issue. Notifications sometimes don't show up at all, or show up hours later. When screen is off and locked, I rarely get notifications until I unlock the device. Running latest ICS on Galaxy S3, Verizon.
Re: No notification of incoming message KeithR 7/17/12 6:35 PM @JasonTheGamer, I would be inclined to study the settings on the S3.  This sounds more like a setting of the sleep mode.
Re: No notification of incoming message Niksko 8/7/12 4:00 AM I have an identical problem. This occurs on both my Galaxy Nexus and my Nexus 7, both running 4.1.1. My phone has Google talk version 4.1.1-398336 (330) and my tablet has version 4.1.1-402395 (330) I've just tried turning OFF a setting labeled "Away
Re: No notification of incoming message Nick Golding 8/10/12 4:06 PM I have this same problem, I think. I will only get a notification sound or vibration if I am directly viewing the conversation (which, of course, is when I least need it).  If the app is closed, or the screen is off, or I'm in a different conversatio
Re: No notification of incoming message Nick Golding 8/10/12 4:11 PM EDIT: I forgot to mention, I think this started happening just after the upgrade to ICS. I know that the app made notification sounds before that.
Re: No notification of incoming message lordazoroth 8/22/12 9:21 AM I'm having the same problem, so is my girlfriend on her phone. All other Google services work perfectly when the phone is sleeping (screen turned off and lock-screen active). We are forced to fall back on Google+ messenger for the majority of our int
Re: No notification of incoming message Richard J Foster 9/11/12 1:10 PM Experiencing the same issue on Motorola Atrix 2 (AT&T) with stock ROM (I.e still Android V 2.3.6, although hopefully not much longer since ICS went live in India this morning ;-)) and Talk version 1.3 (which appears to be the most recent version for
Re: No notification of incoming message Christina Gardner 9/29/12 9:02 PM Same problem here. I have the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx via Verizon. Android version 4.0.4   I have the phone set to make both audible and vibrate alerts and I get neither about 75% of the time.
Re: No notification of incoming message Papa Bear 9/29/12 10:02 PM @Christina Gardner  Did your phone conduct a large update download recently? Tap on Menu > tap Settings > scroll to bottom to tap About Phone > tap System Updates > if a window appears with an option to Install, tap Install and wait several minutes.
Re: No notification of incoming message Christina Gardner 9/29/12 10:09 PM I haven't had an update in a few months but I have had this problem for a while now, even before my last update. I also just checked to see if there was one pending, which isn't the case. I do try to reboot or power off my phone fairly often.
Re: No notification of incoming message Adam Danger Silver 10/18/12 11:49 PM I'm having the same problem.  Notifications for Google Talk just stopped working at some point recently.  Messages still show up if I go look for them in the app but no sound or notification bar message appears when I receive a gtalk message regardle
Re: No notification of incoming message Christina Gardner 10/19/12 8:47 AM No resolution for my problem and I haven't heard of a solution. I use a third party application for now to ensure I get my messages, tho I'd much rather use Talk instead.
Re: No notification of incoming message Maudrid 11/15/12 4:13 AM Same problem on my nexus 7
Re: No notification of incoming message Collin Stewart 11/19/12 11:34 AM Same problem, HTC One XL (Rogers)
Re: No notification of incoming message PabloQro 11/27/12 6:51 PM Same problem with my Galaxy S III with Android 4.1.1, although it only happens with some contacts: I get a notification just as I set it with some, no notifications at all with others.
Re: No notification of incoming message Adam Danger Silver 11/27/12 6:55 PM FYI the issue on my phone has resolved after the upgrade to 4.2.  Seems stable now.
Re: No notification of incoming message JasonTheGamer 11/27/12 6:59 PM I could be wrong, but I think this problem is somewhat related to the messaging client the other person is using. For instance, I noticed I only experience the issue from friends using third-party applications, and not Google Talk directly. This is e
No notification of incoming message Christopher Robert 12/4/12 8:41 AM I am having a similar issue with my Galaxy Note 2. I am running Android 4.1.1 and every time my phone sleeps for more than a few minutes it signs me out of Google Talk all together. I only figured this out because a friend of mine told me I am appear
