|From $.50 to $.01 per click in 48 hours?||exor||5/24/09 6:16 AM|
For a while, I averaged 50 cents/click. Suddenly, I was surprised to find 12 clicks over a span of 8 impressions, for 150% CTR. That was yesterday, and Google awarded $0.00 for those clicks.
Today, I received one click, at 1 cent. Is this Google punishing me? I have not violated TOS, yet I suspect G's algorithm thinks otherwise. Should I appeal to Google or just ignore this?

Click Bombers. Fascinating. So should I be concerned that G is going to punish me for this?

The only way you can get a 150% CTR is from getting invalid clicks, which Google dues not pay for.
Invalid clicks are:
1) Clicks by you.
2) Clicks by friends/coworkers
3) Accidental clicks from visitors.
If you know who is clicking ask them to stop so your account dues not get disabled.
With only 12 impressions it must be a new site and account. Just keep working on building the site up and that will go up along with the good clicks. A normal CTR is between 1% and 4%

Ray, it sounds like you are suggesting I should just ignore this (since I have no idea where these clicks are coming from) rather than trying to speak with someone at Google. Is this correct?
I know what an invalid click is - I did a report on click fraud in college, actually. What I don't know is how to handle it in my position.

If that was a real visitor (yes some do that to sites with ads) Google has a record of that persons activities and will not hold it aginst you. If it was a friend they also can tell that and you will get an email about it. Hope that it was a visitor.

Well, G has slightly raised my CPC's back up toward 33% of their original value. I just hope that I don't have to switch away from AdSense because someone didn't like my website and decided to "click bomb" it, followed by an assumption of guilt by G. I can think of one direct competitor who is aware of my presence, and probably annoyed by it.

Love to hear your saying. All of us know what type of G ads is and if you want to "beat" somebody, it's easy, right? Sounds like G is smart but stupid. What they don't know how to solve it, they disabled publisher accounts without reasons.
I bet G doesn't know how to explain why they do that because they don't know. One might be smarter if they hide their stupid in front of community. Let's see how competitors beat it.

Why are spilling poison about Google Adsense ?
Google probably has several methods to detect invalid clicks. A person will not lose his or her account if some mad person decides to click the ads continuously.
You are banned from Adsense and asking to be banned on this forum too !

Help! I'm back down to $.02 cents / click today earnings for ads that should be going for over 50 cents a click! This is killing me. I have strictly adhered to Google's terms, not suggesting in any way that any one click on my ads. This has been an awful first experience with AdSense. I am really thinking I need to speak with Google though, because I have more important websites on the way. Through what channels should I try to reach someone at the elusive G?

Maybe the advertisers have burned their budgets since it's the end of the month. Normally at the start/end of the month, click values drop, at least that's what I notice.
Good luck on speaking to someone at Google, though I doubt you'll get an answer for your question even if you could.

If it has not happened to you yet just ask Trinity, she may do it for you.

Three days later, and I am still receiving 1-3 cents per click. No response yet from Google after filling out their click fraud form, either.

Go into your account, than to advenved reports and look at the last month. You may see that there were Placement ads that were paying good and only contextual ads now. Over the past 5 years most of my clicks have been in the 10 to 25 cent range with some times have Placement ads at 40 cents to a dollar each. It always hurt when the good placement ads end. With the recession my income per click has dropped to 3 to 15 cents per click with fewer high paying ones and almost no placement ads.
How old is your account? If it is new the first few days are sometimes the best until the spiders get the correct ads for your keywords. If we could know what ads were clicked you could add keywords to draw them again but Google dues not give that info out.

My AdSense account is only 25 days old. It's been displaying the same ads all along - computer repair and virus removal software - nothing that should be going for .03 / click.
On a related note, MY PR JUST DROPPED FROM 1 TO 0 sometime in the past week! I say related because I suspect Google (or its algorithm), has accused me of click fraud after my competitor did his dirty work.
My competitor is very aware of my existence, very smart, and very capable of doing harm to my business, which directly threatens the profitability of his.
Google still hasn't responded.

Sorry; I don't think I should post a link to my site since that could lead to further trouble.

It has been a week with no reply from Google. What should I do? Click fraud seems to have ruined by site's potential.

How can a visitor click accidentaly?
|Re: From $.50 to $.01 per click in 48 hours?||schwarzenneger2000||6/16/09 9:48 PM|
I think that google adsense is able to track visitor activity after they click an ad. Measuring the time spent and activities performed on the advertiser's site, adsense can decide whether the click was genuine or not. Some clicks do not generate any money at all if adsense decides the visitor didnt perform enough activity after clicking the cpc ad.
Secondly, this post might tell you why your earnings "FLUCTUATE":
Clicks on some ads generate more revenue than others.
|Re: From $.50 to $.01 per click in 48 hours?||Prasanna Rahul||6/16/09 9:56 PM|
now a days the earnings are very low, may the advertisers have decreased their bid value,
|Re: From $.50 to $.01 per click in 48 hours?||Maria Janet||6/17/09 10:40 AM|
If your account shows any unusual click activity, this could be that some trying to get your account banned. You should report this to Google to be on the safer side. There is a special form to report invalid or unusual click activity at https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/request.py
then, the cpc depends on many factors like the geographical location of the visitor and so on.

Thanks, Maria. I completed the click fraud report form several weeks ago and haven't heard back.

I guess G chooses not to reply to these things. It seems Google has a policy of secrecy, which makes sense I guess.
