There are logical reasons as to why you would and SHOULD disable. In a situation where the subject matter is controversial or that there are multiple reasons for either "liking" or more importantly "disliking" a particular video the current rating system fails on many levels and doesn't really provide any REAL value to anyone.
In a situation like a "rebranding" or "how we plan to spend your tax dollars" where opinions are all over the map, it's important to get feedback - Good or Bad. By disabling the "like/dislike" bar, people are more apt to write a comment and explain WHY or WHAT they liked/disliked. Sometimes it's both.
That being said, if you're someone like Apple, and you release a new product or commercial, they know ahead of time, there are
going to be likers and haters and either side are passionate about where
they stand. In this case, it's beneficial to leave it on because it helps to fuel the passion of an established tech-culture war that looks at the like/dislike bar as if it were a virtual tug-o-war and turns a simple commercial into a viral sensation.
