Actually, I find the new UI pretty OK, but I have an important rant about it : you just CAN'T organize the widgets as you want. I don't Fucking want to have a list of recommendations at the top of my front page for various reasons : - If I watched a Doctor Who video yesterday, it doesn't mean I want to today. - Whatever I wanna watch on YouTube, I'll look for it. No need to tell me what the Google Bot thinks I wanna watch. - Though nothing I watch on YouTube is particularly shocking or embarrassing, I find it extremely awkward to have a selected bit of the videos I recently watched whenever I want to show something to someone else on YouTube from my laptop. It's not like my webmail, which I don't have an occasion to show to anybody. youtube.com is a URL I casually type when I'm surfing with a friend on my computer, and exposing what I recently watched is just plain weird, although, I repeat, I watch nothing embarrassing. I can only imagine what it's like for people who actually do. I could go on with how Google brags about its "open" ecosystem that is Android, and constantly shows weaknesses and regression in freedom of use in various producs of theirs, but that doesn't seem quite worth it. Also, I know Google won't be reading a forum, even if it's called "Feedback", so just add a goddamn simple contact/feedback form to YouTube already. |
