I completely agree with the op's suggestion, but I'd also like to suggest that someone fix the current comment response notification system. Recently on more than one occasion, I've had multiple people respond back to a comment that I made on someone else's video. That problem is that, I only got notified of the most recent of those responses when viewing my homepage. I had no idea that other people had responded before that last person until I clicked on the video again. In fact, some of them I would never have known about if I hadn't clicked on page 2 or 3 of the comment section. From my experiences, the system just can't seem to handle someone trying to have multiple conversations.
