Application, AdSense and YouTube account linking
Q: How do I apply for monetization of my videos with AdSense?
YouTube users may be eligible to monetize their content by being accepted into the YouTube Partner Program. If you did not apply to the YouTube Partner Program and received an invitation to monetize your videos, you might be participating in our limited test of monetization for YouTube user accounts.
In both of these processes, you will be prompted to link to AdSense following the steps mentioned in this Help Center article: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=72866.
Q: I do not find the option to link my YouTube account to my AdSense account, and can’t start monetizing my videos.
A: Perhaps your YouTube account is not registered in the country where we offer the YouTube Partner Program. If you were accepted into the YouTube Partner program or account monetization, you will find this option at www.youtube.com/account_monetization. Please note that you will not able to apply for an AdSense account from the standard AdSense sign up page using the URL of your YouTube channel as the system will not allow you to submit the application.
Q: How do I link my YouTube account to a different AdSense account?
A: It is possible to change the AdSense account associated with your YouTube account if you already have an active, approved AdSense account to switch to.
To learn how to link your account, please read this Help Center article: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1708652
Q: YouTube invited me to monetize my video, but when I try to create an AdSense account, it tells me my AdSense account was disapproved and I can’t resubmit.
A: If you have problems with your accounts, please follow the instructions on the disapproval e-mail that was sent to you by the support team. For general information about Google Accounts and YouTube, please visit this FAQ section in YouTube Help Center: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1142412.
Q: I was invited to monetize my videos, but I was disapproved for being under 18. Why did I get an invitation and how can I apply for monetizing my videos?
The minimum age requirement to participate in AdSense is 18 years. If you have submitted an AdSense application through YouTube and were disapproved by our system for being an underage publisher, your YouTube account will still be linked to this disapproved AdSense application. You should follow the instructions in the disapproval e-mail you received to verify your age (if you are over 18) and resubmit the AdSense application.
In case you are under 18 years old, the only way to start monetizing your videos is to link the YouTube account to an approved AdSense account (of the parent or guardian who are over 18). The process of linking YouTube account to a different AdSense account is described above.
Monetization disabled
Q: Why is monetisation disabled for my channel?
A: There are a number of reasons for this and detailed information can be found in the YouTube Help Center article: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1727191
Q: What is the procedure to appeal an AdSense account termination?
A: If your AdSense account was disabled, please refer to the e-mail you received from AdSense. It contains all information about the reason for disabling and information on how to submit an appeal. For more information about how to appeal a termination, please read Help Center article: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=87047
Q: What are the specific requirements to monetize a video? Why can some videos be monetized, others not?
A: All videos submitted for monetization must comply with YouTube’s Terms of Service at http://www.youtube.com/t/terms and Community Guidelines at http://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines.
To find out why your monetization tab was disabled, please visit Help Center article: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=160354.
You also will need to claim commercial rights to videos you submit in order to be approved. In order to monetize your video with Google AdSense, your AdSense account also must comply with AdSense policies located here: https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=48182.
Earnings, stats, ad types
Q: Do I get paid when users click on the ads on my videos or when they watch the ads?
A: With AdSense for content, these ads you display on your site can be either cost-per-click (CPC) or cost-per-thousand-impression (CPM) ads. For CPC ads, you'll generate earnings when your users click on the ads. For CPM ads, you'll generate earnings every time the ad appears to a user viewing your site. You can also generate earnings while enabling your users to search your site and the web.
Q: Where can I view my YouTube earnings?
A: Once approved, ads may be served on your video, but not necessarily on each view. To check your earnings, please refer to your AdSense reports.
Q: Can I chose the ad formats and ad types that are shown in my videos and in my channel?
A. As a member of the YouTube Partner program, you can select ad format types when you enable your videos for advertising. For more information on enabling advertising options on your video, please visit our Help Center article about how to enable ads on your videos: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en-GB&answer=1205640
