Erm... as stated: because we (TCs, ie the "experts" quoted) were told that it is not possible to change the case.
You have different information from the information we received from Google. Which happens. A lot.
So go to the source of that different information and get them to do what we were told is not possible. Because you cannot get it done here. "Here" is an user to user forum which was told (by Google) that it is not possible to change the case of an username. Reason? Probably because Google does not accept responsibility for billions of users who create and manage their YouTubes for free and on a DIY arrangement.
