"I have my email for EMAIL youtube is for fun, I don't want to start receiving emails from my youtube account on the email i had to use to just access my account. Its dumb. its great that youtube is owned by google, cool stuff, why are you forcing people to link the two together when those who wanted to link it together probably did the first minute u asked, not after months and months of "skip this step". I really hate this idea and i can see im not the only one."

"So I've been auto-logged on to YouTube on my home computer for a long time now. When I refreshed my YouTube tabs, they all came up with the same message, saying that I could no longer be logged onto YouTube without linking it to a Google account and that if I did not wish to link them, I could sign out. Any time I tried to click on any YouTube link, even the home page, I got the same message. Now, this highly pissed me off, considering last time I did link my accounts, I couldn't be logged onto one without being logged onto the other. In other words, I couldn't get on only gmail and not YouTube or only YouTube, but not gmail. So I had unlinked my accounts a while ago in order to avoid that issue. Well, I signed out (because of the button that said sign out if you don't want them linked). I signed back in. It gave me the same message. So I gave up and eventually linked the two. I'm highly pissed off and annoyed at this and I would like to know why on earth I absolutely must link my damn YouTube page to a Google account. Can anyone explain this to me? Is it just Google being a power-hungry monopoly? "

"While I do understand that Youtube is run by Google, I find that forcing someone to use a completely untrelated system to what the user has been familiar with after years use, is presumptious and arrogant.  I do not like Google, I do not like their politics, I do not like their attitudes and I do not want the majory of their products in my life.  I purposely use Yahoo becuase I do not agree with the majority of Google's ideals.  I am now dragooned into using an aspect of their system because of...I honestly do no know why else other than a version of blackmail?  In essence, you are requiring your normal customers to change their way because of the notion that anyone who uses anything but their prooducts is ignorant from the perspective of a customer like myself.  You just prooved my point in one of your posts when you stated "@Star32043535-  no one forced you to link your Google product, your YouTube, to a GMail Google.  Upgrading the email address your YouTube already used to be a Google account would have sufficed"  You're basically telling this user that their choice is use all of our system or get off our site, we do not want you.

You have now just reinforced your comapny's arrogance.  The fact that you are not offering us any options mean you have no idea of what a customer is and you do not care about them at all.  You offer no valid reason at this time and I cannot think of any for you in your defense other than you do not care."

"I see You Tube and Google as two seperate accounts, so why do I have to link them.  I would much prefer my You Tube account to be seperate from my Google account with seperate log in protocols.  That is my choice and not yours to dictate.  By forcing me to combine the two by a link will only discourage me from using both sites.  Not only that, as I have found to date, it is confusing because I have to keep changing my strong password and I can't access either account, so what is the point??"

"I am extremely disappointed to have to link my google account with youtube. My trust in the motives of google has been seriously undermined. Loosing my videos or creating another account. Lets see, option #1: no. Option #2, thoroughly lacklustre as I will be signed out of my gmail, docs and calendar that I use on a daily basis (and keep in sync with my android phone with), so not a solution.

I'm sure my reasons are in step with all the other people who have posted reasons for why they don't want linking, and sure enough times change. But the real reason I'm annoyed is that you don't provide a workaround that doesn't impair the functionality of the site and therefore could be considered a bug. I linked my account, but I am frustrated at having to. I like to keep my work and personal life separate and do not want everything I do online under the watch of a company that has strayed so far from it's principals, i.e. 'do not be evil' etc"

"Those who have had a Youtube account for a long time have obviously proven that they are no bother, so why make them link the account to a Google account? Maybe they don't WANT to use Google-related apps? Stop trying to force people to use them.

Honestly, I knew you guys were going to do some stupid shit like this as soon as I saw the OPTION to link the account to a Google account.

Video hosting sites are sprouting up and they are soon to replace your company, Youtube; why make it so easy for them to do so by allowing stupid bullshit like VEVO and forcing users to make a Google account?"

First of all to YOU, the users:
Dont you too think this has to change? just as well as googles 'if we dont answer, there's no problem'-strategy!
This is a call for everyone infuriated, dissapointed, annoyed or in other way demoralised by us beeing forced to make a google account
just to view videos!
It's us who have to change something.
So please, make google/youtube notice this thread, by posting an unusually high number of answers, or even more problems YOU have with us beeing forced to link up! Maybee then finally someone will read this, and give us an answer!

Now to google:
Dont you see you are not making anything positive! more and more people are leaving youtube! there is so many alternatives, by now we do no longer depend on you! I dare to say a lot of people like(ed) youtube, but the less privacy you give us, the more yousers will go!

I suggest to leave it optional. It's obvious you are not doing this change for security reasons, but to increas google-mail/goolge account traffic! But you also do that if its optional! the longer you force us to the linking up, the more people will otice, the more people will get enraged and the more customers you will loose.
Why do you work against yourselves?! The quicker you change it back, the less users u will loose!

Greetings to everyone reading this article, and I ask everyone to consider it deeply.
