may i please have just my youtube account back (user name: pukestina)? all of this nonsense with linking to google screwed me up. i didn't WANT to link to a google account, but i did anyway, then deleted it while trying to navigate my way around this new setup...first all of my videos were gone, and now my entire account has been permanently disabled. getting the run around with "help" links stinks; please just have someone put it back the way it was and i'll submit to the google linkage.

Your not ASKING people to link to a google account. Please correct your post liz. YOUR DEMANDING with no alternative.

I do not WANT my accounts linked. Ever. WORSE I am not unable to USE my youtube account.

My gmail account (nerys71) is very old my youtube account (nerys71 also) is also very old.

last year I made a NEW youtube account (rocketrylive) to separate some videos from my main video account. basically a one off account.

I got asked to link a lot I always hit cancel or skip.

Now it refuses to let me into my youtube account unless I link WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO DO.

so I tried linking it says NO that account is already linked to another account??? what other account? I click sign out and "poof" instead of signing me out its signed me INTO rocketrlive.

apparently THAT is the account linked to my gmail account. (I sure as heck never did it btw)

OK so I find the unlink url but it says accounts PERMANENTLY linked.

now I am not happy. the problem with linking is I want multiple youtube accounts (since you do not let us have multiple channels) but I DO NOT WANT MULTIPLE GMAIL ACCOUNTS.

so if I were to say heck with it and make a new stupid gmail account for each new youtube account NOW I can not be in BOTH at the same time. when I log into one it LOGS ME OUT of the other (not a problem before this insane stupid linking crap) and vice versa.

see the problem this creates? I DO NOT want to get rid of my gmail or my youtube account. if that means I can only conveniently have one youtube FINE I will just use vimeo or something for my "alternate" videos

but now it will not permit me to unlink rocketrylive from nerys71 so I can link nerys71 with nerys71

and I can NOT log into my nerys71 account to DO anything it just insists I MUST LINK but won't let me LINK.

How do I fix this? when will youtube reverse this linking CRAP and go back to SEPARATE LOGINS independent of each other.

I WILL NOT undergo the hassle of constantly logging in and out of accounts to access them because of this linking I would rather just never use youtube again.

Solutions please ?

I can log in but thats it. I can't upload a video or anything as it demands I link and I refuse. if this means its gone so be it I won't use youtube anymore.

I AM NOT uploading all those videos and relinking all those videos again. Its just not worth it.

I don't want ANY youtubes on a google account. I want YOUTUBE accounts and I want GOOGLE accounts. I never asked for these forced annoying limitations.

I also DID NOT create rocketrylive attached to my nerys71 gmail. GOOGLE did that. I logged OUT OF my nerys71 account before making the rockerylive channel specifically to AVOID any connection (before I knew about linking)

SO question remains unanswered. how do I REMOVE the link between rocketrylive and nerys71 and CREATE a link between nerys71 and nerys71

if this means deleting rocketrylive (BUT NOT DOING ANYTHING to nerys71 gmail) so be it. I only have a few videos on that account.

I also NEVER logged into rocketrylive in the last few months. google also did that "automatically" when I log out of nerys71 it "poof" has me logged into rocketrylive without me having to do a thing.

greenflams thank you for the solution was not "idea" but it worked.

I was able to CLOSE the rocketry live account (without effecting my gmail account) which then let me link nerys71 to nerys71

so at least I can once again access my youtube channel.

I am going to seriously work toward finding a youtube alternative. I DO NOT LIKE this forced inefficient stupid linking crap at all. but I have way to much stuff in this channel to even think about reuploading it all.

Google. I AM NOT HAPPY and I bet a lot of others are not going to be happy either.

I DO NOT WANT MY MAIL ATTACHED TO EVERYTHING ELSE OR ANYTHING ELSE.

I retain STRICT separation between my MAIL and ANYTHING ELSE for a very good reason.

My mail is critical everything else is NON CRITICAL and I do not want crap effecting everything else to "effect" my mail in any way.

I am very very much not happy about this CRAP your doing.

 I'm an American; I speak English and live in a Spanish speaking country. Everytime I try to sign in to comment on HuffPost, I get the same damned message in Spanish, which I do not understand. I've marked my language as English every chance I've had, yet I get all this crap in Spanish wherever I go on the internet. Instructions in Spanish; requests in Spanish and disgustingly sleezy ads in Spanish.

 

The bullying, manipulating and forced linking are just disgusting!

I don't want to my YouTube account linked to my Gmail. Gmail is not my primary email. I had not checked my Gmail account in days. Yesterday I went to check it and discovered all my YouTube info being sent there. YouTube, I understand you are owned by Google but please at the bare minimum give users an option to have their YouTube info sent to someplace other than Gmail if they so choose. I now have to keep my Gmail open because of this. Thanks for adding another stupid inconvenience. Things were just fine. People should have the option to link a Gmail account. It should not be forced. I have been constant user since joining in 2007 and it seems to me that the vast majority of changes are not well liked. Google owning YouTube has it's perks but it's caused quite a number of issues. In the future when YouTube goes to implement a change, try listening to the people who use it because most of the times I see a change made, I see negative comments (myself included).

I've had the same youtube account (scythemantis) for many years with HUNDREDS of favorites, some uploads and a carefully maintained playlist, but when I entered my gmail information to link accounts, it wound up linking an alternate account I don't remember creating!

I need my ORIGINAL youtube account linked to google, the account I actually use. I can't figure out how this happened or how to change it!

you have to do what I did. you have to DELETE the "alternate" you tube account

log out of scythemantis and log into the alternate (just click signout from the MAIN youtube page and it should poof you into the alternate if its linked to your gmail account)

now goto account settings - click on your name and goto account

got manage account on the left and goto CLOSE account.

it will verify this will NOT damage your gmail account but it WILL delete everything from this youtube account (once again look at the top right make sure its the CORRECT youtube account you want to delete)

once its gone Log back into your PROPER G-Mail account

then goto youtube.com LOG into your PROPER scythemantis account and it should now demand you link and it will not let you click "sign in" for I already have a google account and log in with your gmail info.

now scythemantis will be linked to your gmail properly.

Very annoying a serious royal PITA but at least it works for now.

I will never link my account, so effectively you banned me and i find out that Vimeo is a better alternatives.  Thanks!

you should force everyone to UNLINK the accounts and then allow those that are crazy enough to link them. any other alternative is only showing that google team went form genius to the worst company ever.

Excuse me but your not asking people to link your DEMANDING us to link when we were never asked if we would like these features added or not, most people will now have to make a google account just so they can continue using youtube, and as i'v heard many people have now lost their entire youtube accounts through this feature crap.

can you please tell us WHY this has to be done istead of just saying "do what we want you to",

youtube will lose many many accounts and many many everyday users through this, sort it out youtube, surely youtube is worth enough money to not have to have goggle as part of them if this is another case of wanting more money out of people, personally i hope youtube lose most of their client base through this, that way websites might start to listen to their users instead of their diesease ridden money hungry minds

Wow, God, Nersys-, I have a similar problem I posted today to find an answer, and if the solution is to lose one of the YouTube Accounts... sorry, but I'm not going to do that. That is totally crazy!!

They didn't think about accounts with the same nickname, and now we are suffering these problems.

Forcing a Google Account for a YouTube Account, is not a good policy.

Liz I personally don't feel that I should link my accounts just to make the engineers lives at google easier. The bottom line is that google want to force people without gmail accounts to have one. Well your game makes me sick. I have a gmail account which I use for professional reasons and when I come to youtube well let's put it this way I am not so professional anymore and it really bothers me that I will be forced into linking my accounts just for the purpose of posting an opinion that may later come back and bite me in the butt just kause U want more users.  Here is my response Google, I will not link the two accounts, it is wrong, so $hove.............!

I just went through every forum page concerning the topic of why our youtube accounts must be linked to our google accounts (if existing, I created this account only for the reason of this comment; not going to use youtube anymore), and I noticed, that not a single of these posts was ever answered; neither by youtube nor by google.

I I must say, I was a grand fan of youtube, and loved it, was happy bout everything, even the new layout, never had anything to
complain about until now.

And I, and i gather many people to want to know:
WHY DO WE HAVE TO LINK OUR YOUTUBE ACCOUNT TO A GOOGLE ACCOUNT?

I am going to post a collection of some of the comlaints (not naming users who posted them) given in this forum, and i ask everyone who wants to know why we are beeing forced to link the acounts/or to even create accounts to post something here, or to like this question, maybee if enough people do, google/youtube will react.

So here some of the complaints:
"As you have now forced a link to gmail from youtube, the rest of my family cannot access our youtube account unless they also sign into my personal email account too. If for the sake of privacy (not a word google understands) I log out of my email, no one else can use our account to favourite things or rate videos.

Please fix this, so that multiple accounts can run, or preferably as it was before, an optional service. My partner used to "like" things so I could come back and watch them after work - now she would have to write a list of urls. Obviously this is ridiculous.

Is there a reason you felt it necessary to force this on us when the linking was already having such problems as an optional thing? I know you want to reap the data, why claim it is for security? If my unlinked youtube account is comprimised it would not have meant my email was too, however now linked if one account is compromised then my personal email account will be at risk too.

Also I have a friend who uploads videos and has been the recipient of false DMCA claims. He has pointed out to me that if his accounts are linked and he gets another false DMCA he will not be able to access his email to try to resolve the issue. How short sighted these implementations seem. "

"I do have a Google Account for Gmail and Google Documents.  However, my Google account is for what I would deem 'official' activities like receiving billing statements and staying in contact with professional contacts.  For me, Youtube is a vehicle for entertainment and occasionally educational/informational use, it has great utility but no possible overlap with my business or financial affairs.  I think having the option to link a Youtube and a Google Account is a great feature, but not having the option to keep a Youtube account separate from a Google Account actually decreases the overall utility of both services for me.

For example, logging into Youtube with my newly linked (by ultimatum) account now seems to automatically log me into every Google Account linked service under the account linked to my Youtube account.  This happened even though I was previously logged into a different Google account to use Gmail.  This is the sort of use case that I would think should give developers some pause.  What happens when I click a Youtube link sent to me via gmail on a different Google account than the one linked to my Youtube account?  It seems I will be switched to the other account in Gmail so that when I finish watching the clip and go back to Gmail I'm not going to see the mail I was looking at before but any mail that may have been sent to my alternate account..."

"If this new method is supposed to be so "secure," why is my Google password the most vulnerable password I have? I stinkin' ROCK at having strong 6 character passwords, but my 8 letter passwords are real English words that are just marginally stronger than the argument Google is putting up for why FORCED account linking is a good thing. Seriously, if you're going to force me to link the accounts, at least let me keep the stronger password!

 

I am sorry to say that I cannot link my accounts as it actually makes me more vulnerable to hackage."


"I use my Google account ONLY for the calendar to manage my work schedule, mainly.  I use it for nothing else, and has no relation to my YouTube accounts.  Linking them together is clunky, and only complicates matters.  I have FOUR YouTube accounts.  If I link them all to the same Google account, how am I supposed to log into one instead of the other three?  Or do I have to create another three separate, purposeless Google accounts?  Explain that to me, please.

Even then, YouTube is only pestering me about my original account which was registered using a different email than my Google account.  It doesn't pester me about the account registered with the SAME email as the Google account.  If any two were to be linked, it would be them, but again, there is no need to associate the two accounts.  They have nothing to do with one another, and I prefer keeping these things separate.  I'm sick and tired of having to register on every site I goto in order to just use the site to its fullest potential.  Now, I have to create another account to use the account I already have?"

"I have my email for EMAIL youtube is for fun, I don't want to start receiving emails from my youtube account on the email i had to use to just access my account. Its dumb. its great that youtube is owned by google, cool stuff, why are you forcing people to link the two together when those who wanted to link it together probably did the first minute u asked, not after months and months of "skip this step". I really hate this idea and i can see im not the only one."


"So I've been auto-logged on to YouTube on my home computer for a long time now. When I refreshed my YouTube tabs, they all came up with the same message, saying that I could no longer be logged onto YouTube without linking it to a Google account and that if I did not wish to link them, I could sign out. Now, this highly pissed me off, considering last time I did link my accounts, I couldn't be logged onto one without being logged onto the other. Well, I signed out (because of the button that said sign out if you don't want them linked). I signed back in. It gave me the same message. So I gave up and eventually linked the two. Is it just Google being a power-hungry monopoly? "

"I am extremely disappointed to have to link my google account with youtube. My trust in the motives of google has been seriously undermined. Loosing my videos or creating another account.
