If we must stay with the grey/white boarders/center background, could we least have a lights out or dimming button.Daily Motion & other sites have done this & it helps the eyes,esp at night.I would still suggest opening the use of the existing background color palette in order to give the user the option of basic colors to help match & blend their photo backgrounds.I know its mostly about watching videos on YT but,I don't always want a full screen video.I enjoy viewing my video log rolls,playlists,& backgrounds often on small screen mode,while listening to tunes.Oh yah I see the advertising billboards more often when in small screen.
