This is an awful layout. It is quite possibly the worst layout for a website designed around viewing anything I've seen in...well, ever.

First things first.
Actual subscriptions get a single column with no grouping by user, no option to take a video off your feed (after having watched it), and there is no "Watched" tag, so I can't tell if I HAVE watched it or not.

Second, the shoving of "recommended" (sponsored) videos. These rarely appeal to me, and yet they take up just as much space as subscription videos which I have explicitly made note of my interest.

Third, the side panel is a mess. The icons take up far more space than is necessary, there is so much unused space on the left hand side, there's no separation to let me know when my pinned subscribers list ends and the superfluous "From Youtube" section begins. There is no point to having a favorites list, either, as it's about the same number of clicks to find them whether I have them there or not, and that bar gives me less space to view their channel in. And best of all, the Remove button (the only one I found on the entire site so far. Youtubes new philosophy is "Don't ever change your mind" I guess?) was badly positioned for the Recommended tabs. It's a tiny gray x on black background that, if you hover over the center, will disappear. You have to move juuuust to the edge of the "+" to subscribe to them in order to remove the name. I don't get it. Is Youtube trying to trick me into subscribing? What purpose does that even serve? Even on a tablet I'd imagine that's impossible to click half the time.

Finally, the entire front page is unintuitive, a complete mess, far less organized or customizable than it was, and is just an enormous conglomeration of "Web 2.0" and tablet friendly superfluous designs and squished boxes designed for the latest flash in the pan of media devices.
