A lot of us make our own videos. I even play my own music, even writing some of it. And so it can hurt more that our videos/films are consistently ignored. I have 5 channels and my most active one has over 100 films. Only one film gets any notice at all - a protest I filmed concerning Palestinians in New York. I put no work into it, but it was news. The ones I have attempted to make interesting simply fail.
The way to get noticed is VERY unfortunate. I suspect many of us are loathe to cross the line. Some walk along the fence, or line. The line is very clear: are your videos Populist? Lots of cursing, body parts, sexism, racism, and an absolute explosion of gay content - pro and against.
I am sensitive to the gay content, since I'm gay. I did not discuss it on YT, because my family name is connected to one of my accounts. I have given that up, but I am not yet ready to expoit my sexuality to gain viewers.
But if you want to know how to get noticed, post Popular content. And steal, steal, steal. Allusions to the rich, notorious and famous are big hits. You have to be on top of Yellow Journalism to do really well. And you have to be willing to look at yourself at the end of the day squarely, and feel good about your work.
I am very frustrated, because viewers DO matter to us. I make videos with people in mind, not the ether... peace to all. |
