This is stupid.  I frequently use Google to search on specific websites, which I need the advanced search for.  It is absolutely ridiculous that I have to type gibberish into a search, seeing as I have nothing else to search for, to get to the advanced search option.  It is tedious, stupid, and an absolute waste of my time.  There was absolutely nothing wrong with having a small line of text next to the search bar, or even somewhere out of the way on the main page, especially considering that you clutter it with countless useless links already, that users may or may not click.  Removing it adds absolutely nothing to the user experience and only makes it more annoying for those that need it.
