Google Timeline was invaluable in my research using various news websites. It was able to search CNN.com, or Al Jazeera, for example, and deliver me specific articles between the dates I specified. I was looking for articles chronicling the Arab spring, so I set my dates of article publication between January and June of this year. Timeline gave me a graph of when the results for my keyword were most prevalent and I was able to see every article with that keyword from that website for every month if I so desired. Now, Google News search gives me, at most, one result for the keyword "libya" in the dates specified. I am fully convinced that Al Jazeera ran more than one article about Libya in six months. I want the timeline, the monthly list of articles, and the ability to sift through hundreds of articles from a website on google, which was MUCH more useful to me than this new feature, which pretty much has been completely useless.

Bring back timeline, PLEASE!
