If you removed them from their source website you should be able to remove them from the google image results. What is hanging on there are thumbnail remants of the pictures. Once the image returns a status 404 - Page Not Found, it can be removed from image search also. I assume that you used Webmaster Tools to attempt removal and have that link. Here is a link that will explain how to remove the thumbnail images from image search results: Read it carefully, watch the video, and you are good to go. Note under the 'Quick Text Guide' there is info to explain how to tell if the page is 'live'. The link you put in for removal is from doing a right click on 'Full-size Image', and copying that.
