My metro phone (huawei) was locked for too many pattern attempts & was asking for my gmail & password. However couldn't remember password. Figured no problem & reset password from computer. Wrong! phone wouldn't recognize new password & remained locked. I tried all suggestions: null,omitting gmail.com part, turning phone off,etc....For my metro phone the only answer that finally worked was this one- go to this site & enter your info  https://www.google.com/accounts/UnlockCaptcha

it will then tell you device unlocked
to complete the process of unlocking your phone you must then re-enter your info into your phone after doing the step above first!
this time when you input your info & sign in it will unlock
it will then request you to put in a new pattern lock code & confirm it
phone will be good as before.
