I am an employee of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region III in the Drinking Water Branch. My branch and I are currently in the process of making plans for National Drinking Water Week 2011, which is May 2-6. National Drinking Water Week has been observed for over 30 years, sponsored by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and EPA. The purpose of the week is to promote community awareness of the crucial role that a safe, reliable water supply plays in our every day lives.  

We believe that it would be a great way to inform the public of the importance of safe drinking water by having a water-themed Google doodle on one day during Drinking Water Week.
