I started sportcloseup.co.uk - a niche content website and travel guide about UK sports museums and visitor attractions - in January. For two or three weeks it was quite visible on Google searches, given that it was a new site.
Now, since late February, it has totally disappeared and the only trace that remains is our Twitter feed, a few online pieces referencing us and our Google maps pages. New site yes, but I am struggling to think this is unconnected with Google's actions.
I am by the way a journalist and write every single word on the site which is updated daily. It is ALL new content.
Go to Bing or Yahoo and type in 'sports museums UK' or similar terms and you'll find us on page 1, even the first entry on page 1. On Google we're invisible and an old site that doesn't provide reviews and hasn't been updated in years remains in pride of place on page 1 of their searches.
Google I'm afraid seem to have got this badly wrong. |
