Seasoned domains no longer matter. Domains with keywords no longer matter. Well established content producers no longer matter. It's too much ad space above the fold, it's keyword stuffing, duplicate content, and the freaking easter bunny.
Google has all these fake rules that conflict with what their ad folks tell you and what their decade of public interaction has said. Just utterly random useless mess from Google. Does Google even understand itself what is going on and why?
Googles search is utterly unintelligent now.
What they are trying to do it appears is give priority to fresh new content. This is a BAD DECISION. Google search is used for research and actual useful stuff mainly I bet, not folks hunting for latest gossip rag crap. Plenty of content is static, history, and isn't going to factually change no matter how many opinions try to rewrite it as their own.
Noticed with other new domains we own posted new content and were ranking on first page out of say 60 million terms, literally in days of posting. Also noticed those rankings tail off quickly (within days). So clearly social nonsense and popularity contests are now a heavier part of the ranking compared to before.
Twitter and Facebook already own the useless search for live time empty content. Social should be a feature in Google's Search but not the core search.
The writing is on the wall, someone in charge has the brain of an insect and can't see over the ant hill. Popularity contests and first responders are hardly the end all experts on a topic. Their content is probably often hurried and barely any. Clearly this sort of lousy short sighted decision coupled with a stubborn bunch of morons is exactly why technology folks find themselves at odds with most of the business world and sent to their corner.
Google should give up search and just stick to Adwords. It's the only thing they seem to be able to understand. Give them time and they'll implode that too.
As far as Google adding human elements to search, they already have corruption factors all over their search. They've said they utilize whitelists and blacklists - at least prior to this update. Cult of Mac was instantly resurrected when the media covered their demise. Clearly, Google didn't re-engineer their algorithm, they just raised some labeling on Cult of Mac's pages in the index. Anyone claiming Google did nothing favorable to Cult of Mac is TOTALLY FULL OF MANURE.
It's fine, if Google wants to act like a monopoly, then hell be it for them. All is fair in love and war, time for the later as my fondness is gone. Surely, many others folks feel the same way.
Time to take action. Contact your elected officials. Contact every entity at odds with Google. Speak up so officials do the needed thing and reign Google in.
Tell everyone you know what a piece of incompetent arrogant trash the folks over at Google are. Steer everyone away from Google's sites, ads, phones, TV products and any other thing Google's tentacles are involved in.
Google can put some of it's money where it's mouth is for a change and I don't mean buying more lobbyists or ignoring reality. I mean opening the algorithm up to peer review and/or to auditing? Google wants everyone else's creative works to be freely available, so how about Google leads by example and opens the source to their search algorithm?
