My website fell off the planet midday on feb 20th, so I'm not sure if it was the algorithm change or not. At first I thought it was the result of an all in one seo pack that was added to the new blog on my site, but then I heard about google changing things around so I am not sure. My site is 8 months old and I have been working hard on it, it has many pages of original content which I had worked very hard on compiling and making sure was accurate. I was giving free pages on my site to businesses that wanted to showcase themselves, everyone loved the site and was very happy to be on it. I never ever stole any content from anyone...although I have seen exact original text from my site come up on all sorts of weird sites and when you search my url all sorts of weird sites come up with my web address and text.
I saw the movie 'social network" recently...actually, coincidentally on the 20th, the day my site tanked. I liked in the beginning where he didnt want advertising on facebook, just wanted it to be cool, and that was how I felt about my site...I was focusing on a great quality site in a niche where I felt none like it existed, and wasnt worrying about revenue.
I saw another special needs parent posted and I am also a special needs parent, gratefully I was not depending on my site for income, but it was one thing I was positively focusing on other than the constant care of my child and other family matters. As my site grew and I was getting click thrus for all sorts of relevant keyword combinations I was excited by all the people who were coming to and staying on my site for long periods of time, and the likes I was getting on my facebook page from people who found their way to my site, and the positive response I was getting from the vendors that were thrilled to have pages on my site. As I said, since feb 20th my site has dropped off the planet. All the keywords I was targeting are gone...only to be replaced by all these weird ones which I rank on like the 20th page for. Seems weird to have my main keyword be # 2 on yahoo and bing and not be showing up anywhere at all on google!
I really hope that something technical has gone awry with my site and in removing the all in one seo pack things will eventually get back to normal. As I said, my site tanked on the 20th which seems earlier that everyone elses. I appreciate the opportunity to post about it, thanks so very much!!
