SketchUp Version:8

Subsequent to my last post, I have added an extra 2gigs or RAM, made a dedicated partition for SketchUp on my hard drive, Un-installed and re-installed SketchUp 8 and still I can't import any of my 'sub-models' into a master construction model. All models have been purged.
What do I do next?
Can you load both the attached files into a new model? If not, why? What am I doing wrong?
