Select a face.

With this face still being selected, following:

SketchUp's menu Window > Preferences > Shortcuts > assign Edit\Item\ Align Axes to your perfered key (combination)

 

Remember the you'll get an extended shortcut list of options whenever you have made a relevant selection. In this case you may wish to preselect a face.

Once assigned, you are ready to go.
