I have had a problem with importing with Picasa 3.8.x and now 3.9.x. Selecting Import just freezes Picasa and does not give me the choice to select an option, or place, to import from before it crashes. I cannot find a solution so I use Windows Photo Gallery to import from my scanner and then open Picasa and let it find the object(s) and work them from there. The only thing I see when attempting to import with Picasa right as it crashes is a huge spike in activity from MS Security Essentials (MsMpEng.exe). I cannot find any other mention of this happening in others posts but I am going to guess there is some correlation in these occurrences that prevents Picasa from functioning. If anyone has any thoughts I would like to hear them. All the Best for 2012!
