I have the same problem - I'm running Windows 7 64-bit - and Picasa freezes each time I try to import images. I've tried several different cameras and hard drives - the issue seems to be with the Picasa import function. I even bought a new scanner but to no avail - Picasa no longer wants to play.  =|
