Google Maps and the new Navigation Beta feature works great in Phoenix. Way better than my dedicated 2 year old Garmin Nuvi 265WGPS in the car. G Navigation Kept up and is slightly faster than Garmin on moving map display at 70 mph. Traffic info is more accurate & Detailed. Auto screen centering works in small jumps but is good. G Navigation picks the best rout home tonight, something the Garmin NEVER does (it always pick the worst route anywhere!). I asked Garmin a year ago if it could "learn" or be "taught' the best route, but it can't.
I know it is still beta, so these are suggestions for the finished product: 1) Allow BYPASSING the DIMMING & POWER SAVING / auto lock if in Navigation Mode AND external power is applied (from the car power cord). 2) Resume normal presets of Dimming and Power saving after External Power Disconnected. 3) Option to "learn" or "teach" chosen route (to avoid lights and traffic, even if it is a mile or two longer than the shortest route) 4) Suggest to Verizon to sell a suction cup car bracket, which can be used in portrait or landscape views. I have Verizon's Samsung Charge SCH-i510. I'm sure when this G Navigation "takes off" Verizon wouldn't mind getting $30 for a bracket or $50 for a bracket & a short (2'-3') DC Car cord package.
Thanks
