After restoring my phone to factory last night, I was able to restore all the contacts through Google Sync, thank God for that and I was able to save all my image and videos. Unfortunately, there was no way to back up all my android apps, as Samsung Kies software wouldn't recognize my Nexus so I lost all my apps, and discovered that most of my favorite ones are no longer available on Market, so again, DO NOT DO A FACTORY RESTORE ON YOUR PHONE. It doesn't help and you won't get your apps back. On this one point, I miss the ease of use of iTunes.
A developer friend of mine, not with Google however, has given me his take on the situation. The new s/w release for 4G may incorporate a test fix for this problem. It may be easier to incorporate a fix into a release which was already in production, such as the 4G one, and they may wait to see if this prevents the voice search from happening with the 4G phones. If it works, then they will use the fix in the next 3G release. Based on this, and the fact that we haven't heard of a release date for the next 3G s/w update, I am told not to expect anything until late August or September. As much as I loved this phone before this problem occurred, I am applying the same logic as I would, lets say for example, for when buying a car; no matter how much I like it and how pretty it is, if there isn't the post purchase support and service, then it's not worth buying. That is the message I'm relaying to everyone about this phone. When it works it's great, but when there's a problem, you are basically screwed.....
I have read a lot of posts where people have gone deep into the phones and re-set the radio signal and some have had a bit of success with that one.  If I purchased my phone from some guy in the street for $10, and if I was in any way a techie, then I'd be willing to take on the responsibility of fixing this myself.  I purchased it from a company that offers Rogers phones with excellent plans through work, and thus far, have had no help from the company, or really from Rogers.
