Must be something happening in the last 2 weeks as my iPhone4s is experiencing same general issues between the native iPhone Calendar and my desktop Google Calendar. I too missed appointments made from my desktop (to appear on my iPhone) and vice versa. After installing a CadDAV acct I was able to successfully get an appt from my desktop browser Google Calendar to my iPhone Calendar but NOT from the iPhone to the desktop. I can, however, delete an appt from my iPhone, that was sent FROM my desktop to my iPhone, and it WILL delete from the iPhone AND the desktop! Just can't get the iPhone Calendar to send appointments to the Google Calendar anymore and it was working flawlessly (and before on my old iPhone4
