I was just about to fiddle with the USB connector but thought I'd have one last go so after not trying it for a week I've just plugged it into the USB port on my laptop and it recognises it now, with no changes what so ever made by me... The Device screen on Eclipse does now say "com.android.chrome" on it now and I just installed the new Chrome Beta yesterday, perhaps this could have something to do with it? So perhaps if it's not working for anyone try installing chrome first.
