I have gone through all the settings carefully to ensure that I have got everything as per the instructions. I have also tried just syncing one item i.e. just contacts, just calendar, just email. These do not work and display the same error.

Finally I created a new gmail account and swapped in the new email, password etc. This DOES work. So it appears to be something specific to my gmail account?  I am however successfully synchronising my ipad using activesync protocol.

Is anybody able to help with this?
