The Issue(s):
Starting on Monday (two days ago) my apps started crashing left and right. Almost every 5 seconds, a message pops up saying:
"Unfortunately, Android keyboard has stopped."
This happens regardless of whether or not I'm even using the keyboard. If I try to open Gmail, it gives me the same message, saying that Gmail has stopped. This happens every single time I try and open Gmail on my phone. And I do mean 100% of the time.
Occasionally, I get an error that reads:
com.google.process.gapps Force Close
I've been doing some research, and it was possible this was happening because of a Contact Sync error. And that was indeed the prime suspect for awhile. On the bottom of the system screen, it said that there was a problem with Google Sync, and that the issue would be resolved soon (I'm paraphrasing). I tried every fix I could think of to resolve that issue:
- I freed up storage space
- deleted almost all my non-essential apps
- emptied the cache of all my apps
- deleted stored contacts and re-synced
- multiple reboots
- tried rebooting in Safe Mode
- tried turning sync on and off, both in the system menu and on my control panel widget
Nothing has resolved the issue. Gmail still crashes on cue, and the keyboard app crashes constantly. Maps and Navigation are out too. My phone is essentially dead in the water. If someone could please tell me what's going on, I'd really appreciate it!
