I have the same problem. I (unfortunately) bought a Nexus S, which is runnning   android version 2.3.4. , build number GRJ22). I try my best not to turn off my phone. However it happens sometimes (yes it is my mistake) and when I turn it on it hangs displaying "google", 

 

Warming the phone worked in my case, thanks guys. Now I am going everywhere with my hairdryer.

 

By the way, I advice google to sell its phone with a hairdryer (preferably a small one which is designed by another company), it is really a must since they were not able to fix this problem since January 2011 and were not kind enough to give proper information to the people (we still dont know whether it is a hardware or a software problem). 

 

I have no doubt that our friend Paul definetly will transmit this idea to the Google adminstration when he is back from holiday.
